I have aspergers syndrome. I think everyone knows this? o3o
But I've grown tired of people I've seen elsewhere on forums, flaming like a retard, then anytime something goes wrong "Oh I've got aspergers I don't know any better!"
Bullshit. XD
Okay... aspergers are blunt, make mistakes, but its not like I can't learn OH MAYBE I SHOULDN'T TELL THAT PERSON THEIR ART WAS SHIT... MAYBE... I SHOULD SAY THIS IN A NICE WAY?
I make lots of mistakes where I look bad.. but I apologize for them, I take responsibility, because in the end... even if I didn't know better, its still my fault on how I behave. If I don't know a stove is hot, and I shove someones face on it and they get burnt... well I didn't know any better just doesn't seem to cut it now does it? xD
AS isn't an excuse, its an understanding... When I was diagnosed I was so relieved to have a focus point on what I could do to communicate with people, instead of eye contact I stare at peoples lips... it lets them know they have my attention, even though they have it when I'm staring off into space, I can accept it makes them feel better. XD Its cool... if I tell people, its only so they can spot me doing something and let me know nicely so I can work on it, not so I can insult them and go OH WELL YOU KNOW.
This also works in a dual nature sort of way...
Just because I say something blunt doesn't always mean I'm being an asshole... if you ask if that dress makes you look fat, and I say yes... I'm telling you because YOU asked ME. I'm not being a dick, you asked, you get an honest answer. XD

I have a stamp that is similar, and people just wouldn't leave me the fuck alone and blah blah blah bully blah blah ableist and all that. You'd think I'd made a racist epithet stamp. I finally just disabled comments because I'm so damn tired of people getting upset over something I made years ago. Anything like that happen to you?

I get this stamp.
Some asshole commented in the Aspergers-Support and commented, "is aspurrgerers bobs?" (His exact comment) and then said to me, "u huz assburgers."
Now I thought it sounded odd too when I heard it. But after learning more and more about it, I began fighting back on people who don't pronounce it right or say it wrong on purpose.
Another is that, I'm proud to admit, "Hey I'm a DIAGNOSED Aspie and if you don't like it, f*** off"

I'm sorry, I don't think you get this stamp. xD It is not about the pronunciation... Its about the people who use "I have aspergers!" as an excuse to be jerks to others. (Read the stamp description)
Though I don't agree that someone should comment like that. It sounds like he was being disrespectful about the issue.
I don't think pronunciation really matters all that much. Whether you say it with a German accent(more correct "Aus") or English(ass), its the same diagnosis.
Its not right to say it wrong on purpose, but I don't think most people are.

From being a kid to 23, I've learned to do things I never was able to do. I can make eye contact, I can hold a conversation (for more than JUST video games), I can smile at people, I can flirt, I can go out and hang with people, and most of all, I do what I can to be kind. I value kindess very high, I acknowledge my quirks, and I don't let really petty things bother me. But I am sometimes blunt, but I do with with a smartass smile on my face.
I don't make excuses, I try to better myself. And it's so nice to see a fellow Aspie understanding the same things we go through and try to accomplish things beyond ourselves.

The harder you try the more you learn. It's not impossible, and if people start to excuse their bad behavior with "Oh well I have a disability!" then what next? Its the same argument convicts give that they were "insane" just because they flew into a fit of rage and killed someone.
If you know its wrong then you do everything you can to stop it, and if that fails you make up for it afterwards. :c

Not an aspie but thanks for this. I do get annoyed when someones being obnoxious and they pull a 'Oh I'm an aspie/have ADD/somethingelse' excuse. Now I do understand that the disorders do affect social skills ect but it's not a ticket to be an asshole, some people I think do 'LOL ASPIE I CAN'T CONTROL MYSELF LOLOLOLOL' as a cover anyway.

I have to say I've glanced at some comments on this, I'm self diagnosed shall we say XD since, yeah, I'm different, I know it, no one else seems to and I've barely had any help :/ mainly coz of stupid teachers, psychologists etc. -3- but I'm very confused XD I never blurt things out and correct people, I'm also not selfish, which is a possible trait too, also, I find it hard to simply tell the truth XD so I really dunno what all these are about :/ I take other's feelings into consideration, the only main trait I have is I used to have OCD, very mild at the time XD and also tend to lack communication skills '>___<
