Description
This is a red squirrel (Sciurus vulgaris), but with a very dark brown coat. I was looking out for birds when I noticed it, and it seemed to want me to take a picture! It sat there patiently, and only ran away after I put the camera down.Related content

LOL! With his tail over his head like that, it looks kind of like he's got a little squirrel mohawk!!!

Is it? I rarely see them anyway, and if I do, they're gone way too fast! This photo was an absolutely lucky shot. Your gallery, on the other hand, seems to be quite full of them

Mine not, but check there are only squirrels there. I had so many of them and I had to move them there.

You're welcome. I've never seen a photo of a squirrel up close, showing every detail. I just love it.

OMG he's so cute!!!!!
Our squirrels here are lighter with less poofy tails...They also have stripes down their backs. Some people have begun to tame them by giving them food (I did it myself, those cute little guys just take the food right out of your hand), so they're not very afraid of humans. Of course, they'll still run if they sense danger.

I think it's fascinating watching them go up and down the trees as if it was the easiest thing in the world! Anyway, thanks for the
