Description
Not a very exciting bird, or a great picture, but hey, it's my first shot of a bird in the wild! I might move it to the scrapbook later, if I manage to take better ones.Got the 50-500 Sigma lens today, also known as the "bigma"... and it IS big! And heavy, too. After the first test shots out of the window, I was a bit concerned because they seemed too soft. Anyway, I went out to test it on some real subjects in the evening.
According to some people, this lens is not meant to he hand-held at 500mm... maybe that explains why the pictures are rarely really sharp. But I'll try it anyway, don't feel like walking around with a tripod all the time. Maybe I'll try a monopod.

Monopods handier than tripods !! Perhaps a little "wobble" still possible .. but then that up to how much you've had to drink ??

I think I'll stick to "don't drink and photograph"! At least as long as I'm carrying the heavy and expensive camera around
