Eh, I dont think the view is so bad.
I'd see vikings to NOT have the sail, and a bunch of lion/dragon/sea serpent/whatever heads at the front and ends of the boat...Kind of like a canoe. XD
This reminds me of ancient exploring ships, so yes, medieval.

The sail was what made me think "vikings", but yeah, their boats would have the big dragon head, also they were rather low built, not high like this one. The photo had a lot less contrast out of the camera, but I managed to make it look almost normal ^^

Wait...I've always had the impression that Vikings didn't use sails! Actually...nevermind. XP
I always thought viking boats were like canoes, just bigger.
