Description
A submission to the Valentines Contest over at . And a challenge to the crack-shippers of the Temeraire fandom. Yes, I'm looking at you, you Laurence/Emily shippers. My challenge to you is this: If Laurence is destined to be with Ms. Roland the younger, then what becomes of Ms. Roland the elder? Surely, you romantics-at-heart beleive that Jane deserves better than an endless steam of one-night-stands with whoever catches her eye at the local tavern...Well, Excidium certainly certainly has his hopes! A certain sharply dressed general and war hero who already spends a great deal of time with the esteemed Ms. Roland. Certainly more time than ought to be required for 'war planning.'
Admiral Jane Roland and Excidium are from Naomi Novik's "Temeraire" books. The Duke of Wellington is a historical figure who just happens to appear in the last of said books. Though, for the record, I believe he was faithfully married in real life...

HAHAH!! This made me laugh so hard, oh yes Laurence OF COURSE he is reffering to breakfast! I like your description too, I just don't see Emily and Laurence together. They have more of the father/daughter relationship in my mind. Great pic, clever and colorful!

Well since Jane was like "REJECTION" to Laurence, why not?
And who cares if Wellington was married irl, this is Temeraire! Anything goes
Excidiums pose is hilarious...almost like a peeping tom

I remember reading in book 5 about them having to shoo all but the senior-most dragons away from the command tent...That's where this came from!

Y'know, I returned that book to the library.... It had to have been when General Wellesley, Admiral Roland, and Temeraire were together....Probably right before the final battle. If not then, than right before or right after the Battle of London...

I will pay attention to it if/when I re-read book five. But that is not likely to happen for quite a while (even tough I have my own copy of all five books).

Oh, I love the Jane/Wellington pairing (although yeah, Wellington was married according to Wikipedia)! Btw, Jane has dark hair. And Excidium is a male dragon.
The text is really hilarious!

The Duke was well-known for having a very, very, very long list of notorious lovers; he married Kitt out of pride more than anything.
Jane/Wellington, ftw!

I must have confused Excidium wiht Lily. 'Cause Excidium wasn't much much of a character himself... And with all the other blonds book, including Emily I just assumed Jane had fair hair. Well, behold the magic of photoshop layers!
