Description
Loop is an entry for the Indocement awards in the Tiga Roda architectural artwork design category for the year 2010.Plant - Care
Global warming issue has triggered a new trend in the community. People tend to held communal activity under the βgreenβ banner. one of those is by greening the city with tree planting.
On the other hand, inconsistency often harms this seemingly noble activity. Young trees are often left with such insufficient care that they wither slowly but surely until they finally die.
An Engagement
Based on the phenomenon, the concept of engagement is chosen to be applied on the design as a form of bonding commitment between human and nature.
Form Concept
As a symbol of eternal bondage, the interlocking of two rings forming a continuous loop is taken as the form of loop. Smaller ring connected to a bigger ring together looping one another in a never ending track.
It symbolizes:
Natural environment in a smaller scale is inseparable with that of in the larger scale.
just like a single tree as a part of a natural ecosystem and the ecosystem itself as a part of the whole biosphere.
Function Shifting
when the tree is still young and fragile,
LOOP acts as a signage that there is a young tree which need attention at the point where it is located. hoping that the nearby people would be more aware on the trees existence thus giving more care for the tree.
Loop acts as a supporting device for the tree while it is still fragile until it grows bigger and able to stand alone more firmly. When the tree has grown bigger, LOOP along with the tree provide a lush mini oasis around the sheltered area for the people to come together.

Do you mean the one on the upper left side? Considering it's an architectural competition, I focus on the design of the object itself rather than the logo.
But,thanks for the input. Will keep that in mind. Really appreciate it

Excellent concept. The composition with pictures has some technical faults, however the whole thing gets the idea across quite well. I want one of these in the plazas here.

The tree blend with the background, for instance, is semi-transparent, it should be opaque.

Well, I did that intentionally so that the tree won't dominate the whole scene. As the main component of the design, the trees are quite massive, Moreover, it is positioned at the center of the scene. If I made it opaque (in my opinion), it would make the scene less representative, because it would block the background.
But thanks for the input anyway! Really appreciate it
