Description ... ok.. this time I was curious what they look like under it all.. Completed drawing took about 10 minutes to do, providing scientific description.. about 2 hours. :/

Just as in the Gallade [link] , Gardevoir have a widened sternum which supports a blade like protrusion, only not as sharply angled and serves as a sort of Psychical tuning extension of their bodies. The horn's casing serves as a protective casing for their psychic sensory clusters which are linked to their hearts. From the lower portions of their rib cages, are small extensions from which the long flowing "dresses" trademark to the Gardevoir, are loosely anchored to.

As Gardevoir are 50/50 Male and Female, the hip bones are much more homologous between the sexes of Gardevoir as apposed to the highly dimorphic hip bones exclusive to the Gallade. Overall, Gardevoir have a more slender build.

Since Gardevoir also support their weight on their Psycho kinetic abilities, the structure of the legs bones and muscle mass are in contrast to that of Gallade. As such, this has resulted in less pressure exerted on the feet leading to the metatarsals and phalanges to become somewhat fixed together due to the diminished usage of needing them for balance. This has led to a prominent point much like that found in the pre-evolution, Kirlia.

Yeah, I don't think it's even supposed to be hair, I always thought it was a helmet

I dunno about those protrusions on the side where the "hair" (or possible actually hair) would go - I ain't ever seen a bony protrusion given jigglebones. (In X/Y, the hair actually has jigglebones)

archus7 In reply to professionalperv-69 [2014-08-01 03:23:21 +0000 UTC]

those hanging segments were meant to be more of a gimmick to allude to that part of their "hair" that loops down to their shoulders. the actual hair was meant to drape further down that protrusion (which is why i've drawn it out fairly short) so it would be able to move about with movement, sort of like a tail, possibly made of cartilage too.. well, of course, this was drawn out years before X/Y.

Your anatomy is same how the humanoids, is very strange how changed your evolution and the adaptation. And to think that their ears were facial peaks.

I really like the image, and the description, but I agree with ZeroDevil on the flexing thing, though cartilage doesn't contain bloodvessels... personally I think I would have made the chest protrusion almost nose like, hollow with bone and/or cartilage protecting it, but containing the tissues needed to hone the psychic powers... but you know that's personal preferance.
Question though, why do the sensory clusters link to the heart? Wouldn't they run through the ribcage to the spinal column.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

archus7 In reply to SherlockianHamps [2011-05-03 06:18:14 +0000 UTC]

first off, thanks for some nice feed constructive feedback. Gardevoirs are called the "Embrace" PKMN Where Ralts and Kirlia are the Feeling and emotion PKMN and there "horns" are on their heads, it seems they are connected to their minds, whereas Gardies have them over their hearts. In a more poetic way I suppose, I just saw them being attributed to their "Hearts"

ZeroDevil [2011-04-17 21:00:01 +0000 UTC]

Very nicely done. ^^

Your description makes anatomical sense too, especially the leg structure's description and it's skeletal shape, although the actual "point" on the center of the chest I would expect to be made out of cartilage or some sort of soft tissue (seeing as how it'd have to flex for the breathing and heartbeat).

Anyway, still very nicely done and very believable. ^_^

Hmm....this is pretty interesting I have to say. It's nice to see these kinds of things with fantasy stuff. Gives it more depth and whatnot, and it's pretty detailed in both description and artwork. Never would've though the red gem thingie would be a part of the ribcage (or a bone for that matter!). The more you know~

DavidJCobb [2011-02-09 07:06:43 +0000 UTC]

Hm, I'd expect the blade protrusion to be an organ containing nerve bundles (making a Garde's brain something like a dual-core computer) rather than solid bone.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

archus7 In reply to DavidJCobb [2011-02-09 20:40:43 +0000 UTC]

the whole concept was kind of a spoof off of [link] and i made the "blade" with thought in mind about how the Ralts line senses the feelings and emotions of Trainers, so with that i saw the blades as a sort of "psychic radio antenna" to their Hearts. but of course biologicaly speaking, something that intricate would need protection much like how humans have nails at the end of each finger and toe. but that would mean it does house nerve bundles within.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

DavidJCobb In reply to archus7 [2011-02-11 08:35:46 +0000 UTC]

True. But I wonder; would the nerve bundle's protective casing be fused into the sternum, or simply wedged into it? I'd suspect the latter -- with the sternum probably diverging and reconnecting below the nerve bundle, almost being an O-shaped formation...

If I could draw, I'd love to take my own stab at some Garde skeletal anatomy.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

archus7 In reply to DavidJCobb [2011-02-11 08:46:41 +0000 UTC]

you've got the right idea. I drew the blade interlacing with sternum as to not hinder the rib cage from the motion of breathing.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

DavidJCobb In reply to archus7 [2011-02-11 09:25:15 +0000 UTC]

Ah, yes, I just noticed that in your reference, the front and back blades are separate entities. At first, I was thinking that it was one continuous entity -- perhaps integrated into the spine beneath where the two longs connect to the throat...

As I said -- if I could draw, I'd love to try my own attempt.

Sometimes the red stuff of a Gardevoir is drawn at lower place. In this case, how to define the sternum?
Or before that, is the protrusion actually need a bone inside it?

SherlockianHamps In reply to Alex06959 [2011-05-02 18:31:15 +0000 UTC]

Depends if you interpret it as hair or extra protection: a thick 'shield' on or over the skull, as a psychic pokΓ©mon their brains are even more valuable than in other creatures, though minorly, since the brain is damn importiant. I'd interpret it as hair, but I do like the idea of a 'crest' or 'shield'.
