Scribbling stuff this morning, while I dread/count down the hour before I must head back to my classes nooooo (I'll miss you, my sweet summer vacation...)Some Jean Kirschtein from this summer's amazaballz Attack on Titan (...so many feels you guysss) pour Jared ....I'll probably draw more Jean in a bit. Just practicing his face and dat jacket.
My next submission will either be Disney-related or moar animu fanarto I think (◡ ‿ ◡✿)

Welp, it is hard to make a generic looking anime character look distinguished so I didn't use a reference at all for me own Jean = 0 If you wanted it to be a true fan-art (in the way most weaboos think about things) then I guess this would have to look like a B&W screen shot with some poorly executed soft diffused CG shading =-=
The ear looks great now *-* the small details make me happy. /shrek voice And dat face! - It is telling a story somewhere between bewildered and optimistic. Maybe he is reflecting on some Marco slash luvin'.
Ah yes that is good artist intuition! (going back and scribbling) I find the best art teeters between refined and messy. It just doesn't do it for me if it's all one or the other.
#hmmm at all the clubs to the right. I guess you quickly got over that little pet peeve/rant about submitting into categories and such? '_';

you're telling me! I seem to have made "Turn Simple Animu/Cartoon Face into Realistic Face" into a hobby (either win or you lose!) :E I usually just pick out features which stand out to me (eyes, hair, cheekbones, idk) and emphasize those. Most of the time I just use my gut instinct on how stuff should look.
ughhhh don't get me started with screenshot art...but the Attack on Titan fandom seems to be great since I haven't seen as much of that sorta thing (lots of original art/reinterpretations of existing stuff!). I think usually the shows aimed at a younger age group have more of the screencap sketches because when you're younger you tend to copy drawings of stuff you like without thinking much about it.

yup yup, I agree with you there. Too static and perfect is boring (it's like if you look at Classical/Renaissance art for too long and then look at dynamic, dramatic Baroque art~ not that Renaissance art isn't amazing in its own sorta way), while way too messy is...messy.
@ the clubs: I'm not over how frustrating it is to submit to the generic art/anime clubs with very numerous and very unorganized folders (e.g. a "Fanart" folder and then a separate "Black and White" folder). When you go to clubs (e.g. Disney clubs/or a specific fandom) with CONTENT folders only (folders divided by characters, or film titles, or pairings), it's so much easier to submit it to the right folder! dunno if that makes sense, but there you go

Going through your gallery is like watching black and white television x D so it is a good thing your drawing skillz are so damn ridiculously awesome.
Firstly I like your approach to do the linework all at the same angle (except for his face) because it creates movement and a sense of direction; which in this case is sweeping upward. = 0 And he has some great proportions, esp with that jacket ; o The only thing that bugs me is that I don't think you were 100 percent successful with that angle of his face (and it is a hard one!) and his earlobe might be a smidgen too large. (But see how particular I am? It's really nothing).
I also appreciate your attention to vertical composition, leaving some substantial space for sky and a lone bird *0* - that's a great touch.

Thanks for the compliment over the linework! It was static originally with just him and a light background and some fluffy clouds, but I just went "eff-it" literally last minute and scribbled up everything. yup. artists do that right
I see what you mean about his ear. Nothing fancy here, but yeah, I'll fix up that in a bit no prb. Don't know if I can fix "that angle of his face" 100% since I don't have a reference for that #eep. Just drawing off the top of my head and then used some screencaps to fill in details like the lapels of his jacket, the logo, and his hair.
(I am the worst fanartist).
