Description
Updated: 27/10/2010 @ 00:27Charles Babbage's Engine #2, within the London Science Museum. Taken December 2008.
DeviantART appears to be (badly) processing my images upon submission; this is not how it appears in the source file. I am disappoint!

Oh this one is interesting. I love all the colors, well the black and white shades, if that makes sense .

The variance in monochrome tone, indeed. Thank-you kindly for the comment, I appreciate it.

The soft focus, fine grain, and monochromatic processing lends a feeling of nostalgia to this image, which is rather appropriate given the subject. It's also just really nice to look at.

Yeah; it was one of those images that don't come together until pushed to black & white, which is one reason why it's been neglected for so long.

Hm, what kind of processing by DA?
Great abstraction work

Best way I can describe it is posterisation of gradients that aren't visible on my source images. It's compression for the web, I suppose; Flickr did the same when I uploaded it there.
Thank-you, glad you like it.

Oh! That's unfortunate. I think it's something we just have to deal with when presenting work online; nothing beats physical prints right now.

There's a real drama of light and depth in this - I really like it.

Thank-you, as always. I like it too, although not many others seem to share that sentiment. Hah.

You're quite welcome, as always
And, well, does it make you happy personally?

Given the bitter-sweet narrative behind the image I can't really answer that; but I'm happy with how it came out of processing, at least. Hahah.

Ah, well. At least you like the final product? As long as that's true, I think it counts as success.
