I wanted to go back and look at the Aether, and change some things about it. Mainly to do with the head, as well as modifying its focus. I've made it more of an experimental model in the same universe as the Gundam Voyager (www.deviantart.com/turinuz/art… ). The Aether (and its sister unit, as well as the mass production variant) is designed using weapon concepts from the previous generation. This results in photon propulsion being secondary to conventional thrusters, which the Aether is loaded with, as well as hardlight weapons primarily being relegated to secondary use as well. That's not to say it completely omits their use, but any photon equipment it does use are generally second to its primary weapons, like its shoulder-mounted shield and the Zantetsuken katana.

The Aether is an experimental close-combat mobile suit and one of the last models produced prior to miniaturization of mobile suits. With a design focused on combat paradigms from the last generation, a sheer focus on speed and mobility nonetheless makes it a highly effective unit even compared to high-performance models such as the Gundam Voyager. As an experimental model it emphasizes pilot safety and is equipped with an ejectable core unit capable of independent operation in extreme cases, up to and including destruction of the mobile suit.
