"You first," Miko leaned back in the sunlight, head against Jack's shoulder. "What happened to the beard?"

Jack grimaced. "Man, you had to pick that to ask? Okay fine. So it's probably best you know now, caustic tox-en grenades actually will melt through the front of the suit -- a point of interest for you, Raf -- and half the beard got singed off."

"Ooh. And it was a good beard, too." Raf winced sympathetically. "Star Saber?"

"Starscream." Jack corrected.

"He's still alive?!" Miko burst out laughing. "Wow, he's harder to kill than a roach! Bet he was ticked to find out the Old Man had a new favorite, eh Jackie-boy?"

This last comment was not as humorous as her facial expression would suggest. She didn't actively despise Storm Soldier anymore, but Jack doubted she'd ever completely approve of his quasi-familial relationship with Jack.

"Okay, yeah, he was ticked," Jack agreed, "But the aftermath was that Arcee made me shave the rest of the beard off. She says it makes her feel old anyway."

"My turn," Miko grinned fiercely. "Okay, so, his name is-"

"His?!" Raf squealed, "Miko what the heck?!"

"You got a date?!" Jack elbowed the woman.

"Yes! Shut up and let me finish!" Miko laughed. "His name is Ginrai Tsukino, and he drives trucks. Wheeljack introduced us. We're going to a monster truck rally Saturday."

The young men each high-fived Miko, offering congratulations and then it was Raf's turn.

"I," he said smugly, "Scouted out a new base in the Arctic, hacked a United Cybertronian code, and uploaded another Con to Bumblebee's ever-growing rogue's gallery."

"Dang, Raf, you've been busy!" Miko raised her eyebrows.
"Think Bee's team ever wonders how all this info gets on their smashed-up computer?"

Jack shrugged, nearly dislodging Miko's head. "They probably take it for granted that a prison ship would have a wide database. They probably didn't account for data corruption and loss in the crash."

Raf absently twirled a flash drive between his fingers and nodded. "And Bee and I have been keeping contact to a minimum. I'm not going to be the guy who accidentally leaked Bee's location to the High Council -- may rust plague their t-cogs."

Jack started. "Who taught you to say that ?!" he spluttered.

"Your old man," Raf teased.

"Oh scrap." The older male groaned. "That means Ratchet is going to blame me when he catches you saying it."
