Description
Cosplayer: MePhotographer:
So, fun fact about this shot: It was the most unexpectedly epic shot we've ever gotten. Those of you who also follow my fiance, might be familiar with the pistol I'm holding. It's the one we threw together in like a day for her Yoko costume because we couldn't get her rifle done in time, she's holding it in several of her Yoko shots.
So here's how it went down: Me, and are on the roof of a parking garage, taking pictures of my fiance's Yoko and my own Mandalorian. We had just finished up taking the majority of my pictures, in which I was using my own pistol. While doing that, had another idea for a Yoko shot, and I somehow ended up holding her pistol while she was getting ready to pose. Laughing at the tiny pistol, I randomly drop down into an intense stance and bring the pistol up, intending to make some sassy remark. whips her camera up like the wizard she is and snaps this shot, and we all go to look at the picture, expecting sillies, and we get THIS BEAUTIFUL THING!

As snapshots go, this is an immense one!
Β
I'm liking the closeup view of the armour as well, vod! First time I've seen your Mythosaur too, nice and original Also, is that a lightsaber scar I spot on your visor surround?
*Must remember to buy rub n buff, already have it bookmarked*

Right?
That mythosaur is actually the Florida Garrison's unique logo, I always loved how it resembled a hurricane, haha!
And YES! Yes, that is a saber scar! You may have been the first one to notice it unprompted. I actually took a machete to my helmet to get that scar.

Ah cool! It does rather look like one, yeah! Which is rather appropriate, it must be said xD
Haha, well, I couldn't think of anything else, other than maybe more beskar that would've dealt that much damage to your bucket!Β
I'm impressed at your dedication to making the things look realistic!

Thanks boss, and weathering was honestly more fun than I thought it would be. I was terrified of scratching up my nice new armor at first, but it looks SOOOOO much better with some scratches and grime on their, really adds some character!

Your Mandalorian cosplay is amazing! It's one of the best ones I've seen. Everything about it down to the detail is fantastic.
How hard was it to make the armor? It looks like it came right out of a movie or something XD

Oh wow, thanks so much! ^^
And honestly, this project was really scary at first, as I had hardly any idea what I was doing and was terrified of screwing something up. The learning curve was a bit high, but the people in the Mandalorian Mercenaries Costume Club are some of the nicest, most fantastic costumers you'll ever meet. With their help, this project turned out fantastic, and made me a much better cosplayer overall. I've learned more from this project than with all my other costumes combined, and I've already put that knowledge to good use on several other projects.Β
I've been working on this costume for about a year now, although some of that time this had to be put down to finish up some other stuff (I'm never satisfied with my cosplay roster, must make all the things!). I'm just now about to get my Official Membership status within the MMCC, and I've still got upgrades planned for this costume even after that's done!
Seriously, you and everyone else who reads this post needs to at least check out the mercs.firespray.net/forum/inde⦠">Mando Mercs website. Introduce yourself, consider making a set of Mando armor! These guys are great, and they do good work! If you do take the plunge, I promise you'll come out of it with more confidence, more knowledge, and a badass suit of armor to call your very own!

Your welcome!
I bet. I would be horrified of messing something up if I ever even attempted to make one. It's great to know that theirs people willing to help and probably lots of tutorials out there too.
I took a little look around the website and it looks like a great community. It makes me want to have a Mandalorian costume of my own sometime if I ever feel like doing a big project!
Also congratulations on getting an Official Membership with them! Even though I'm not sure what that means for you, still, congratulations! XD

Ah! Β dA has shown me a Mando cosplay! Β The browsing feature is good for something after all! Β And it's a name I even recognize from the forums!
Your kit is sick, seriously the level of quality has been an inspiration to me in my own (very very unfinished) kit. Β Instant fav, and instant follow!

hehe i'll bet getting that realistic battle damage can be what makes or breaks a set, I think. Many brand-spankin-new troopers look TOO shiney XD

Argnarock In reply to DragonPud [2013-08-01 04:20:06 +0000 UTC]
I'll be honest, I kinda wanted to keep my stuff shiny. I had never really weathered before this kit, and I had worked so hard on making it pretty that I didn't want to dirty it up. I'm so glad I took the plunge though! It looks so much more realistic, and it seems like I've actually been around the block a few times!

DragonPud In reply to Argnarock [2013-08-01 20:54:38 +0000 UTC]
heh yeah. A lot of creature damage would match my character's background, that's for sure. I might end up making a second set that's shiny XD

Thanks so much! The battle damage was actually a lot of fun! For most of it I actually took my armor down to the street and kicked it around a bit till it got scuffed up, and then we added some silver rub n buff and gave it a black wash to make it look realistic! Though I must say, some of that bit on my lower right cheek wasn't there at the beginiing of the day, paint must have chipped off at some point >.< Good thing we had a layer of silver underneath just in case!
