Too bad for me this universe focuses more on space combat then planetary combat.

Tempo's home world reminds me of this story some Spec ops guy told me about the jungles of Panama.
He said, "when his squad went out on patrol, when darkness fell it was absolute. The only way to move without getting lost was to hook your hand in the belt of the guy ahead of you and constant 'head-counts'. When it became absolutely dark you could see nothing, not just because of the dark. The phosphorescence was like walking in a paisley curtain while on an acid trip." Later on, after sleeping he forgot to do a "Boot-shake" of his gear, a scorpion was in his helmet; it stung him and he stated that the sting was so powerful it had dissolved a piece of his skull. Having seen the scars on his head, I had no doubts regarding his tale.
A teacher of mine had gone to Panama and stayed in a bungalow; She said she'd get up and go stretch outside her front door. until one morning, when a foot long scorpion was perched on her door frame. The dangers of remote environments to foreigners can never be understated.

Each description is like the sayings, "A picture is worth a thousand words" or "Only the tip of the iceberg".
I can imagine some of what it might have been like according to their stories, and can only wish I could visit the rest.

Sub-tropical, actually.
(No sub-tropical puns come to mind.)
