You can only open .pmd models in PMD Editor. For .pmx files, you need PMX Editor

When specular color is set to 110 do I have to load autoluminous MME to get it to work or the model will be glowing by itself?

When the specular is set to 110, you need to load AutoLuminous.x like a normal accessory ^^
