Here is the last member of Team Eclipse "Rej the Reject" and my last character ref pic for the group. The background theme is of Rej's prototype form and the "Tech Enhancer Cube".

Skills:
Rej is a jack of all trades, he has tinkered with his junk heap of a body so much he provides a variety of skills from combat to plumbing. He has assimilated a lot of information on a lot of things so he is able to provide both technical data and scientific data. He can mimic the voice of anyone he meets and imitate them almost perfectly. He also has some signature attacks: -

Tendrils – Rej’s prototype form made use of tree metal tendrils that can stretch in length, he can still use these tendrils in robot form and they can be drawn out of anywhere on his body as long as they are attached to his torso, from his hand or from his back. The tendrils can either ensnare enemies; act as whips, extra limbs or ropes for others to climb up.

Deconstruct/Reconstruct – Rej can make his body parts detach from his torso and control each of them remotely, all but the head can still move around and can be used for multiple purposes like attacking multiple enemies, hiding or to do another job. He can also reattach his body parts back together in any configuration he likes, this ability even works if he is ripped/blown apart by something or someone, he’ll just pull himself back together; only way to completely destroy him would be to melt him down or take away his power source.

Laser/Missile Cannon – Rej’s arm cannon can fire laser blasts, lazer beams or missiles at enemies.

Rejus Form – After obtaining the Alien Tech Enhancer Rej can morph into a more powerful robot called Rejus, in this form he is faster, stronger and virtually invincible also all his basic weapons get upgrades. But because of the energy consumption Rej can only maintain this form for a short while.

Super Forms – Like most Sonic characters Rej can use the 7 Chaos Emeralds to attain a super form, he turns in Rejus form and most of his armor turns a golden colour while his eye lens turns red. He gets all the usual powers of Super forms and his weapons become more powerful.

He gained another Super Form when he faced his evil doppelganger on Angel Island, after being brutally beaten by him Rej used the Master Emerald to attain a Super form; only difference from the other super form was he was completely gold.

Items/Equipment: Rej’s body is one big piece of equipment, after he tinkered with himself every body part serves as multiple tools: -

Head – Head can serve as a video/photo camera, scanner, radar, and communicator and has different modes of vision.

Right Arm – Can transform into an array of tool and weapons like a chainsaw, cattle prod, wrench, screwdriver, etc depending on the situation.

Cannon Arm – Apart from being a laser blaster/missile launcher Rej can make his cannon serve other task (E.g. Vacuum cleaner).

Torso – This is the only part of Rej that is his original body, when detached it can walk on its tendrils and be used to sneak around tight places or hide. When its attached to the rest of Rej’s parts it acts as a storage compartment for both his power source and the Tech Enhancer but also for almost anything (apparently it has access to hammer space, not sure why), if the object is small enough to fit through the compartment door it can be stored.

Back Booster – The jet boosters on Rej’s back allow him to fly.

Legs/Scrapper Gear – After the team got their own Extreme Gears Rej built skate type gears into his legs, so now whenever he wants to use them his normal feet transform into skate gear called “Scrappers”.

Tech Enhancer – This is a mysterious Cube shaped device of alien origin, Rej found it while sneaking around the Eggsimilator fortress. After watching a diary video of Doctor Eggman explaining what he found while inspecting the device Rej decided to use it on him self. The Cube emits a unique energy that morphs machines on the molecular level into a more powerful form, correcting all flaws and upgrading its systems. Rej calls his upgraded form Rejus, while in this form he is almost invincible. However because of the power drain the Cube does while active Rej can only use it for limited periods of time before it reverts him back to normal, he then would have to wait for the cube to recharge before using it again. He only uses it in emergencies or if only Rejus can do a certain task.

Personality: Rej is a walking comic relief, he likes to act silly and make people laugh. He has a very colourful personality for a robot due to downloading personality files from Eggman’s main computer of multiple characters, from these files he constructed a personality by taking traits from these files, however due to a glitch his voice randomly jumps from one character’s to another. He likes to make fun of some people or purposely say something silly to lighten the mood of a situation, this leads to either making his friends chuckle or annoyed, but always frustrates his foes. Most of his antics are funny phrases, pranks or being clumsy.

But he’s more then just a funny robot, he truly cares for his friends and hates to see them suffer, he would give up his existence to save them if given the choice leading a lot of people to say he has more soul then most people.

Fears and Flaws: Being almost indestructible there is not a lot Rej fears, except being alone. He dislikes being left alone for a while and absolutely is terrified of being truly alone in the world, which is probably why he doesn’t want to lose his friends. Although Rej can pull himself together from most attacks, if he has no power supply left he goes offline and can’t do anything until someone replaces his power source.

Background: Rej was created by Eggman as the prototype of the E – 4000 Eggsimilator, a robot that uses nano technology to absorb other machines becoming more powerful. But once he did a full diagnostic of the prototype he relised that even though it has unlimited data absorbing capabilities it only had limited matter absorbing abilities, in frustration he threw the robot into the scrap pile outside the base. After getting dumped the E-4000 used what little power he had left to absorb an alternative power source plus an AI unit making it smarter. After thinking it’s situation over it decided to escape Eggman so it started to search the junkyard for more parts; in total it absorbed: -

It was now a little junk bot powerful enough to escape but it needed more information first, so the robot broke into Eggman’s base and hacked into his computers, absorbing all the data in it; Technical data of current and upcoming Eggman machines, Stolen G.U.N. data etc. It also absorbed personality files on several characters, from these it pieced together a personality and gained sentience. After some more hacking it discovered Eggman had prisoners (See Umbra and Lunas profiles), and decided to save them. After confronting Eggman, taking down his robots and stealing his Chaos Emerald the trio escape the complex.

Umbra decides to adopt Rej and the trio go back to Umbra’s apartment where Lunas and Rej are introduced to Ruby and after some convincing are allowed to live with both her and Umbra. Ruby sends Umbra back to the temple in the Mystic Ruins to see if more treasure is there, Umbra convinces Ruby to let Lunas and Rej come and she reluctantly agreed. They get to the temple and find a sceptre there that wasn’t magic, but are ambushed by Hex the Bat; a powerful Dark Witch who wanted to steal Umbra’s Omni rings. The trio manage to fight off her and her minions Talon the Raven and Claw and claim the sceptre. Back home Ruby is happy to see that the job went well and offered Rej and Lunas to be assistant treasure hunters to Umbra, they accept and thus Team Eclipse is formed.

Since then Rej has gone on many adventures on his own or with his friends, taking on Hex and her minions, Eggman, meeting new allies like Master Magnus and Rose the Weaver as well as new foes Ares the Eagle and the Jackal Brothers. Rej would eventually come across the mysterious Tech Enhancer enabling him to turn into Rejus and come face to face with a dark doppelganger of his Rejus form who calls itself Negus the Eggsimilator, Rej’s brother. And many other adventures…

Creator’s Notes: Rej the Reject…He was an interesting character to create, he was an attempt at making a flight member for my team (Umbra was the speed member and Lunas was the power member), I thought of different ideas like a bird character or a bug character but finally decided on a robot. At first once I got the look of him in my head I had his back-story as him being the prototype of the Phi robots from Sonic Battle that was faulty and once in the junkyard reattached parts onto him but eventually I changed my mind thinking that sucked. I decided to make up a robot for Eggman to create but then toss aside but I needed a way for him to get junk parts, I got inspired by an episode of “Godzilla the Series” and of “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” that included a machine character or monster that absorbed machinery into it’s structure becoming more powerful, so that’s where I got the idea of Rej absorbing junk to make his body. The split personality he had was from the fact that Emerl made his personality by learning from his friends but to make it different Rej had a glitch that made his voice sound like the person who’s personality trait he was using. As for his name I went through a lot of ideas, there was Rejus, then Reje and then there was Junk but finally decided upon Rej as it sounded like an actual name when spoken and it was short for Reject. As for the upgrade ability he got I came up with that about 2 weeks after finalising him, I noticed that in a lot of anime the main robot would go through some sort of transformation that made him better and I wanted to do that for Rej but still keep his appeal as a junk bot, I achieved this by making the upgrade temporary and because I put a limit on how often he can use it I brought it down to a powerful ability he can only use in certain situations. Rej represents my fondness for technology, computers and science fiction that involves a robot gaining free will and doing good.
