Okay so people know my Gemhorn Dragons [link] by now.. least I think so. However, what most people don't know is that before the Dragons came the Unicorns. The first thought of the translucent, gem-like horn came from an idea I had to give a unicorn a translucent, and therefore jewel-like, horn.Eventually that concept spanned to the dragons I created, well, specifically Dayma whom was the first and created the corner stone of the Gemshorn species, so to speak. For a while I decided I wanted to play with the over all concept and make it different than just a unicorn with a different horn. After some sketches this was the concept I created. Simple reference, but I like it nonetheless.
Addendum: For those that are curious about using these in the HARPG, I am okay with this. If you have any questions regarding what variations are normal for the species such as colors or rarities, feel free to contact me with any questions.

I have some questions though XD
What would the foals look like? would they have all the gems on them or do they grow in time?
and what would happen if you bred this species with a different one?

Hmm that is a good question. I will say that the horns would be smaller and grow over time. Crystalline patches would also grow over time, foals would start out with none and get more as they age. Oh, and for males, the mane won't appear right away until adolescence, like how it is with male lions.
Not sure about breeding with another species, as I had originally created them for a world of mine. I guess it would also have to be up to the owner of the other species. These were only recently requested to be added to the HARPG, so I am a bit unfamiliar with some of the procedure in that regard.

horses that sparkle? I bet you could really market these to little girls. I know a few little girls who would go crazy over something like this, especially because it can also "easily crush bone"
.. something I learned from working with little girls is that they're not all that innocent 0-o
