Description
Another reference sheet done in a stream. This one is much more simple though. So I've had this little sunset bird of mine for a while but I never did any full, completed images for him. I drew a sketch and decided to go with it. This kinda works a both a guide for the character and species. He's sorta been a 'muse' of mine, he's had no name but he's always been around when I want something to draw. And yes, I know the labels for the colors of feathers and eyes are a little ridiculous, but I couldn't really label them since they weren't a single color or even just two colors.
Name: Sunset Bird (has no real name at this point)
Gender: Male
Species: Sunset Bird
Feathers: Sunset
Eyes: Sunburst
Height: 2' 6"
Appearance: He somewhat looks like a cross between a Phoenix and a Snowy Egret with a little bit of Archaeopteryx thrown in. His build is similar to that of the Snowy egret, with find feathers that drape from head, chest and base of his tail. He has a wide tail with several small, thin, decorative feathers with large 'droplet' patterns at the ends.
On his wings he has rather elongated fingers, 3 digits in total however they have no real gripping power, it's primary function is defensive. His coloration contains a mix of orange, pink and purple, mostly and orangy pink color, which fades to a richer pink color and then purple color on his wings and tail. The droplets on his decorative feathers are dark blue that fade to cyan with dark violet spots.
Other: I tend to refer to this character as a sort of muse

Very nice! Almost like a mix of swan, crane and phoenix. I love the 'claw' on the wing there.

Yeah specifically he's a more of a meld between a Snowy Egret, Phoenix and Archaeopteryx, so, pretty close!

Love the colors and I like the fluff areas.
The eye is very interesting, the fact about the fade starting in our pov would seem like he's always watching. o.o

hah yeah it's kinda like how when you look at a bug's eyes the dark spot on the eye changes depending on where you look at it, that sort of thing.

I love your style that you do your references in (: This bird is so pretty! I have a bird species that I'd love to make a reference for sometime. They sort of look like cranes who lay golden and silver eggs xD I think I'll work on that next~

This one is pretty cool. I like the detail on the eye close up. And the tail plumes are a great touch as well.

I was kinda happy with that eye there he was kinda a Egret, Archaeopteryx and Phoenix mix so the plumes were kinda uh.. phoenix-y I guess.
