Description

Finally finished! I've wanted to finish this reference sheet for a while, but I haven't had a chance to finish it until now. I think I sketched out the general idea for this sometime iiiiiiin... late December, I think? I wanted to finish off my to do list before I put a ton of work into it, though.

Anyway, here's Pash's new design. I'm pretty happy with it right now, though I'll probably find something wrong with it in a year and change her design yet again. XD I think the biggest change was that she went from a (failing) complementary color scheme to an analogous color scheme. I also cut down on her # of colors (she loses colors every time I update her design it seems).

I contemplated putting some stripes on her forehead or face, but I couldn't get them to look right, so her face is stripeless for now. I may come back later and add stripes, IDK.

I hope you like her new design!

Special thanks to everyone who critiqued her older reference sheet! You really helped me to make a better ref. sheet this time around. Here's her older design if you'd like to see it: [link]

Pash is my character, no stealing. >:C

It's great to see Pash get another update! I find that no matter how often her design changes, it's always simple yet appealing and with a great amount of charm. I think it's her cute, flat, owly face that-- when paired with her stout body-- makes her just adorable. It's odd, too, that although she's PURPLE, she looks like she could pass for a natural animal. I like that!

(the sheet itself looks wonderful, by the way. The color choice for the boxes-- dark brown then light brown then tan over the medium brown background-- is perfect. Hnnngh.)

I don't typically do this, but my critique here is that there just isn't really much to the character. I suppose it's excusable since she's for an RP (if I recall) AND she's your 'sona, but Pash doesn't have distinguishing traits. What makes her HER? Does she have any peculiar habits, passions, or vices? I'd love to hear about the things that make her stand out as an individual.

But aside from that, this is beautifully done. I always love seeing Pash, dude, she's just a wonderful gryph. Good job!
And ah, sorry for not having commented in forever. I've been really sick and busy with IRL things.

Thanks, Ribs! I've spent a lot of time working on Pash's design, so it's awesome to hear that she actually looks believable. Even though I use unnatural colors, I still want my character designs to be believable (no matter how odd that may sound).

I don't typically do this, but my critique here is that there just isn't really much to the character.
Yeah, I know that Pash isn't very well-developed right now. Ha ha. However, her lack of development is actually intentional because a lot of people think that your fursona = you as you are in real life, and I don't want people to incorrectly assign Pash's negative traits to me. As an example, I could include that Pash is very vengeful and overly cruel at times (which has been brought on by her harsh home world), but I wouldn't want people to be scared of me by association. I'm not like that, honest! D:

(I guess Pash has become the generic everyman because I'm using her as my avatar. >>)

Anyway, if it isn't too much trouble for you, could you please critique a new character of mine? I don't plan on using him as an avatar/fursona, so I have a lot more freedom with his personality. I'll send you a note with the bits and pieces of information I have on him right now if that's okay with you.

Making a fantasy animal believable is pretty tricky! I've yet to find a dragon realistic, regardless of how detailed the CGI. I think Pash is believable because she lacks the anthropomorphized or generic "awesome" traits (giant head crest, complex color design, etc) that make the average gryphons LOOK fictional. Pash has subtly, even with her purple coat!

Hahaha! Yeah, I was hesitant to critique Pash because she's a 'sona, and I know most folks keep those as blank slates. But that makes sense for Pash, so in that case disregard my crit. :'D

...but I'd be more than honored to critique that new character of yours. Woooo drop me a note whenever you want!

While I did enjoy her rainbow stripes, this design looks more natural. Very well drawn and thought out. <3333333

Thanks, Arfy! I must be doing something right if I can make a purple griffin look natural. XD

The way you did the head I think is what does it for me xD
I love how you incorporated the feathers into the horns, enlarged the forehead, and did the ears. It's really pretty creative c:
