Description The sets for the next round of Designer challenge. Which is your favourite?

My ideas behind each set:

1 - Aqua, blue, violet - one of my favourite combinations. And I like the drop shape, it's elegant

2 - Green, cream, white - inspired by shamrock, so its leaves for the pattern

3 - Sky blue, yellow, white - golden wheat field under the blue sky with white clouds, therefore red poppies for the patterns

4 - Pink, orange, mint green - bright joyful colours, reminding of tropics

5 - Dawn pink, yellow, light blue - the colours of sunrise, therefore here are the white drops as morning dew

6 - Dawn red, golden, emerald green - signature combination of one of my OCs, here are the pearls as well to use for necklace and adornment

7 - Dark blue, cream, white - very regal combination, and golden patterns for decoration

8   - Red, black, white - classics from Chanel, although here is also some blue for accent

9 - Blue, silver, white - royal colours from one of my stories, there are also aqua sparkles

10 - Purplish red, white, black - the colours of family coat of arms from my story, therefore the golden roses for pattern

11 - Yellow, pink, violet - remind of sunset, so here is the sun (or star if you see so) for pattern

12 - Cream, blue, violet/purple - a nice combination that I discovered recently, and green leaves for decoration

13 - Purple, green, black - remind me of a steampunk outfit I once made, so here are bronze gears for pattern

14 - Red, orange, yellow - the colours of flame, so here is also a pattern of flame in aqua colour (inspired by a fiery outfit I once made)

15 - Chestnut, blue, silver - signature colours of another OC of mine, so the white pattern imitates slashes with white fabric showing through, like in the clothes of Renaissance fashion

16 - Brown, aqua blue, mint green - the colours of an Indian OC of mine, so I wanted some Indian spirit for the pattern as well

17 - Green, silver, black -  the colours of my favourite coat of arms from my favourite own story, the patterns include green leafy branches and white seashells

18 - Green and two shades of violet - the colours of iris, therefore the yellow parts from the flower

Well, I do not know. At first I should ask if the most of the current participants is interested in continuing this challenge. But if they say yes, then I suppose you could join.

These colour palettes are all very beautiful! Pity that I am a bit late to this choosing, because I really like 13, 6, 4, 7, 11 and 17. So I am left with 15 or 18. 18 has my favourite colours (because at one point in my life, I really liked yellow)... but I can't fit them together with Adelaide somehow. I shall choose 15 then! I would love to create a darker atmosphere with those colours. It's actually pretty fitting with certain steampunk elements. Also... I can't wait to see what you'll do with my favourite colours.

Arrelline In reply to DeeryDeerth [2016-05-14 10:34:48 +0000 UTC]

Thank you . I'm glad that you like them!

And it's a pity indeed that you were left with almost no choice...
But I'm sure you'll make something good out of the set of your choice too! By the way my inspiration for this set, blue, chestnut, grey and white, was the colour scheme of Violanta's signature outfit (if you still remember, she is the protagonist of one own story of mine, and you once said that you liked her as a character).

As to the set left to me... Well, I definitely like the colours, but I am not so enthusiastic about it. Because as it says above, this set was inspired by iris flower. And while I'd already made a fairly good iris-inspired outfit before, I don't think that I'm capable for making another one as half as good as that one... But I believe it won't hurt to try and make something out of it anyway .

With regard to the sets that you liked out of these, I should say 7 and 17 are among my favourites too, especially 17, as I wrote in the previous comment.

You're always welcome!

I do hope I can manage to make something neat with the colours I chose! And yes, I do remember Violanta! She was indeed one of my most favourite characters out of your characters.

I'm somewhat certain the colour palettes don't have to fit with your association of something you were inspired by. What I mean is, if you've made an iris-inspired outfit before, you don't have to make it again. The same colours can be applied to something else, I'm sure - perhaps you'll get a new and fascinating idea!

13 was of particular appeal to me because of the steampunk idea you weaved with it. Would have been perfect for Adelaide, haha.

I know it is not supposed to be an actual picture, but I still am impressed. Your sense of colour and styles is visible even in these small things.

Thank you very much
Among my numerous hobbies, the colour matching and stylization are the ones that I'm relatively good at, so I'm glad to hear your kind words about them.

Just out of curiosity, what are your favourite colours? Also, do you have a favourite set at this picture?

Aranel125 In reply to Arrelline [2016-05-17 16:11:25 +0000 UTC]

I like mostly 1, 3, 4, 5, 11 and 14 - it is hard to pick one of them.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Arrelline In reply to Aranel125 [2016-05-17 19:49:27 +0000 UTC]

It's rather natural. I have more than one favourite set at this picture as well (namely 1, 2, 7, 9, 12, 16 and 17).

And what about your favourite colours in general?
For example I like all shades of green, cerulean, blue and violet. Usually I tend to dislike to bright colours. Nevertheless I really like warm orange, yellow and brown tints, especially in gemstones like amber, yellow topaz and carnelian/sardonyx.

Aranel125 In reply to Arrelline [2016-05-18 17:47:30 +0000 UTC]

Well, I don't know exactly. I like different colours depending on my mood. But of every colour I guess I like some hues more and some less (for example, I like soft pink and don't like shocking pink). And I may like bright colours when they are well put together (not too primitive).
And yes, I forgot number 2. By the way, can I use some of your examples for designs - not for your challenge but just for fun?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Arrelline In reply to Aranel125 [2016-05-19 12:50:30 +0000 UTC]

I think it's rather natural to have favourites, especially in the matter of colours; it's a very personal area reflecting one's tastes and preferences.
As to me, actually I like the most of colours if they are accurately matched and go well together. The only ones I dislike for sure are too garish shades of purple and greenish-yellow and neon colours in general.

And of course you can use any colour combination and patterns in your designs! I'd be only honoured .
Simply make sure that you tag me in the description, that I would be able to see them.

Aranel125 In reply to Arrelline [2016-05-20 16:39:11 +0000 UTC]

Sorry, but could you tell in more details how to do this? I am already making pictures, but I don't understand, why you will not be able to see them?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Arrelline In reply to Aranel125 [2016-05-21 09:21:07 +0000 UTC]

When you submit a picture, you can mention some deviants or groups in your description, either with icon (you type :icon[name of the deviant/group]: without brackets and spaces ) or just by name (then you write @[name of the deviant/group] also without brackets and spaces). If you want other deviants to receive a notification about  your mention, you should add their names when you first submit this picture, otherwise (if you edit the description afterwards) they would not know that you mentioned them.

Thank you! This will be quite the challenge, but I'm kind of looking at it like one of those cooking-show competitions where you're given a basket of ingredients and have to use those in a creative way to make something good.  But I'm already thinking of ways  add shading using the various colors in different strengths and layering them for different effects.

lol sorry, I defiantly couldn't resist, as soon as I saw them I thought 'Slytherin!!! I want those' then I had to step back and think if they'd go good on Rowan and look at the pieces I had to use, but I think it will go good

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Arrelline In reply to msbrit90 [2016-05-13 12:46:44 +0000 UTC]

Well, it's all right. I think I'll end up making two designs, one for the pattern left to me after all the choices are made, and the other for this pattern, because it means too much for me...

And it's interesting how the same colour combination may be treated in different ways by different people!

To you it would mean Slytherin and rather misty and dark general air to say the less.

While to me these are the colours of the coat of arms of one family in my favourite own story, the most noble-hearted and decent people that one can imagine, and a definitely light and positive impression.
Besides it's what these colours mean in heraldry: black is for constancy, white/silver is for sincerity and peace and green is for hope and fidelity.

msbrit90 In reply to Arrelline [2016-05-14 02:23:46 +0000 UTC]

and yeah its very interesting how different people perceive  different things
Harry Potter is so deeply engraved into my brain, like when I saw 14 I thought 'Gryffindor' lol
