Description
Ili, drawn with only two colors. It's called ani-something-or-another. Can't remember the name. Anyway, I'm going to bore you all with a long biography of this character. Her name is Ilivarra Barrindar. She is the bastard daughter of Nadillium Kilzynge and Guliara Barrindar. Nadillium was a drow ranger and follower of Eilistraee raised on the surface. When he was near 300 years of age, his wife died in childbirth, which lead to the loss of his faith in the silver lady. Nad ventured into the Underdark to "find himself." Along the way, he found Matron Mother Guliara. Guli captured him, raped him, and sacraficed him to the Spider Queen. With some help from Eilistraee and an ability he had been born with, Nad escaped. The ranger swore a revenge on Guliara that he would never have, and would not learn that Guliara had conceived that night until 400 years later.
Ili was born the fourth daughter of House Barrindar, number four out of eleven and one of the three unplanned children her mother would give birth to. Like her older brother (and years later, her little sister as well), Ili was especially discrimated, hated, and abused by her mother. Along with her arcane magic and ability as a killer, Ili's resentment for Guliara truly surfaced when she was four years old, and stayed with her through out her life. The event that took placed destroyed her childhood and opened to her eyes to the importance of knowing how to fight. Her newfound wisdom led her to enlisting her older brother to secretly train her as a weapon master. She did not want to rely solely on her abilites as a wizard when she fought her battles.
The first few centuries of her life were a living hell, made worse by her mother's abuse, the loss of her older brother to death, and the loss of her little sister to the principles of drow society. Her life changed, however, when a 300-year-old Ili came face to face with Corran Kaseret, a bardic slave her mother purchased. Ili hated him at first, but soon grew to love him, as he loved her. But when Guliara learned that Ili had become impregnated by Corr, it all went downhill. Being the bitch she was, Guliara planned to sacrafice Corr to Lolth and turn Ili's daughter into a ruthless sorceress. Ili tried to save her beloved (even losing her familiar, Tanamtor, in the process) but it was useless. Just as Guli was about to perform the ceremony, soldiers of House Barri'tar (Lead by Matron Sinvyl, the future Valsharess) broke into House Barrindar and destroyed it. Ili and Corr escaped, planning to start a new life on the surface.
The Valsharass sent many of her red sisters after the couple, but they killed them all. Eventually, the valsharess turned to mercenaries. Corr and Ili encountered a half-drow mercenary named Korve Besair. Korve defeated the couple, cast an abortion spell on the 8-months pregnant Ili, and raped her before Corr's very eyes. The mercenary tortured them for weeks. Corr died, but Ili held out for so long that Korve eventually gave up and buried her alive. The wizard broke out of her coffin and dug herself out of her grave, swearing revenge on Korve.
Four years later, Ili became a red sister and a deadly assassin. sixteen years later, she recieved Korve's location and took her revenge, cutting him up into little pieces and taking his eyeballs as souveneirs. She had lost even more during those twenty years. Most of her compassion, her heart, her best friend, and nearly her sanity. She knew no life other than that of an assassin and accepted the opportunity to become a trainer for the red sisters.
When she was 400-years-old, Ili met Nathyrra Kant'tar. Nat was a newly enrolled red sister. Like Ili, she had joined so that she could recieve the training and the location she needed to avenge her beloved. Ili saw much of herself in Nat and did not want her student to walk the same path. Ili tried to persuade her not to take her vengeance, but Nathyrra was too stubborn to listen. After her student took revenge, Ili decided that it would be better to kill Nat rather than allow her to become a merciless killer. Nat planned to kill Ili as well, believing that killing her hypocritical teacher would bring her the peace she so desired. Ili died, but planted the seed of doubt in Nathyrra that led to her conversion to Eilistraee.
Kelemvor sentenced Ili to wander the planes in search of Corr and Amalaere (her daughter) but she was ressurected about a year after her death. Much to her disdain, most of the skills and experience she had acquired as an assassin-wizard-barbarian-weapon master-psuedo serial killer, and all the other things she had been in her life had disappeared. To her delight, she was reunited with her hell hound familiar, Tan, and has begun a new life on the surface. Will this life be one that she actually enjoys rather than just survives? One with the possibility of new friends, a new love, and a father that cares about her very much? Or will it be just as tormented as wretched as her previous life?
Ilivarra is many things. Cynical, precise, chaotic, somewhat maternal, a convict, haunted, dark, violent, tempestuous, talented, skilled, a former troubled teen, a smoker, a drinker, hateful, determined, driven, quick to smile (depending on the matter), quick to scowl, quick to laugh (again, depending on the matter), quick to anger (unless it is vital that she remain calm), has had PTSD since she was four years old, a sweetheart according to Phil (an arguement we probably never resolve.
