Description
Made with Adobe CS2 and a Wacom Intuos3 6x11.WARNING: LARGE FILE
But, then again I suppose you knew that considering you've already clicked on it. But for those of you who have the small-view on instead of large, beforewarned! It's large and in charge. And detailed. I got carried away.

To clear confusion, all fire you see in the picture came from pictures, not drawn in. I drew highlights, shadows, etc, but all flamage comes from actual pictures.
I forgot to add this into the tutorial, but it's very important, and awesome in the way of time saving.
You do no cut the fire out.
Alright - the way I did it is having a darker BG, and the BG behind the fire is black (or very dark). Set the fire pic to "lighten" if you have PS, and viola! The BG fades away but the fire remains.
The only problem if you're working with a lighter BG is lighten doesn't make the BG disappear so much, so you're suck with how to cut the fire out, etc.
--------------
This was done due to popular demand, and my extreme inability to say no.

BEYOND entertainment. ^_^ I enjoyed it and I learned a lot. Your little drawings and add ins kept my interest (oh, I am bad about losing it!) and got me through the entire tutorial unscathed. I learned a lot and think that some of it applies to stuff other than fire.
I don't know if I'll be trying this myself, but it won't stop me from enjoying the tutorial! Wonderful, wonderful stuff.

Now I know why I suck at making super manips.
I just don't care to spend a ton of time on all the details that make yours look so good. *lazy bum kthnx*
But I'll just cause I had wanted to use fire in a manip once, and I failed miserably. In case I want to try again, I'll probably use this.

Hey, you know what not to do next time when using fire. Besides, you're not a lazy bum if you've already tried using fire - I've never even done that til TFL. lmao

I love your tutorials. I wait with bated breath for your "how to change the shape of a horse" tutorial. It would certainly be enough to inspire me to try my hand at photomanipulation!

And ooh yes, what you added is definitely important to know! I'd probably end up hurting someone or something if I tried cutting all that fire out. *winces*

PG13 is the bane of my existence.
Good info. I have a lot of people asking me the same thing regarding how I did the wings on my Firefly piece. As long as your background's pretty dark, you can just set it to a blend mode and they go away.

(New info added to the "Artist's Comments" box - I forgot to put it into the tutorial.) I don't need credit, but I really would love to see it.
Things with Josh are much better. He will never see perfectly again and can never be a cop because of everything, but he also doesn't let it get him down. He can see well enough to drive - he can see damn near as good as I do with my contacts in, and he without anything at all! But I'm a very blind person without them - my prescription in both eyes is -5.5.
How are yours babe?

Believe it or not I no longer wear glasses because I have what they call mono vision, each eye is strong in one direction so they work together for close up and far away. Like Josh, this is the best they will ever be.

Honestly, I'm very out-of-the-loop as far as studios go. NSHC is the only one I ever do anything at, and anymore it's more me going in and seeing if anything interesting is happening. So any reputation of yours I might know about is only what I see on here, and I think you're just fabulous.

Yeah, I avoid studios. Maybe if I was younger I'd get into them more, but.. Nah. I half had thoughts about opening one of my own, but 1) I'm too lazy, 2) It's difficult to get people to dedicate themselves to your studio, and 3) I doubt many would join. LOL. Mostly, though, it's #1.
BUT, that makes me like you more in that you're not too lazy to start your own studio and work at building it. Best of luck.
