Description
Made with Adobe CS2 and a Wacom Intuos3 6x11.WARNING: LARGE FILE
But, then again I suppose you knew that considering you've already clicked on it. But for those of you who have the small-view on instead of large, beforewarned! It's large and in charge. And detailed. I got carried away.

To clear confusion, all fire you see in the picture came from pictures, not drawn in. I drew highlights, shadows, etc, but all flamage comes from actual pictures.
I forgot to add this into the tutorial, but it's very important, and awesome in the way of time saving.
You do no cut the fire out.
Alright - the way I did it is having a darker BG, and the BG behind the fire is black (or very dark). Set the fire pic to "lighten" if you have PS, and viola! The BG fades away but the fire remains.
The only problem if you're working with a lighter BG is lighten doesn't make the BG disappear so much, so you're suck with how to cut the fire out, etc.
--------------
This was done due to popular demand, and my extreme inability to say no.

Though btw, have you used pictures of fire or drawn the fire on itself?

I used pictures of fire - the only drawing I did was highlights, shadows, etc. But all the fire you see was manipulated from photos.

I hope you're able to make it work! Either way, as long as you're happy with your art, that's all that really matters.
