INSANE. I live in Utah now. I'm in love with the mountains. I've heard good things about Washington state as far as geography, but I love these mountains - I'm in a basin, a bowl formed in the middle. ^_^

Whoa! Last time we talked, you were in Texas and geeking out about marrying your man if I remember right! :3

I waaaaas, you have good memory. Now we're divorcing. XD Last I heard you were trying to cope with yours having such a commute that you'd spend the whole week apart; that and being far too hard on yourself, natch.

I have a shit memory, but we talked enough that some few things actually stuck! Lol. I'm sorry to hear about the divorce, but hope things work out better for you and you're happy in your new surroundings. My hubby and I are still living as we were when you and I last talked.. it's difficult, but one day it'll be better. One day.Β

The same happened to me for a while - I'm finally making a new piece, the first one in Forever, and I'm nearly done with it. I may experiment with an extra step or two before I call it good, but for now just need to finish polishing up the markings. I've learned a Lot since we last talked; I make my own equine pieces now. :3 But I'm still very, very picky about stock because I haven't gotten to the point of heavy altering quite yet - someday, maybe. Super looking forward to what you have next too - aren't muses fun?!

Oh awesome! Once you get into remanipulating legs, necks/heads/etc, you will just love it. It opens so many doors and the restrictions of finding the perfect stock are gone. I love bays/chestnuts simply because they're super easy to change into other colors, and with only having one solid base coat color, easier to remanip! No dapples to align, or paint markings, barring, etc. See how lazy I am? Teehee. I just recommend zooming in to cut/alter, and zooming out lots to get an overall look at it. Also, make a copy of your horse after you cut it out! It'll save you a lot of swearing and fist shaking. Β

I zoom in to like 2-4 hundred percent when cutting, and shrink to 'fit image to screen' (20 percent) view quite often. XD Yay, I'm doing things right! Lol. I've altered a few - switched out a leg for another, added someone else's tail, ect, but I haven't gotten to where I can really alter the main sections of the neck/body or do a complete meld of two or three. I haven't really tried painting over for shine/lighting differences either; but I do keep the horse after it's cut because I don't mark directly on that layer, my color alterations are layered above with different settings. For now. I tend to just desaturate the base into a white horse and then build off of that.
I've only tried 'painting' hair once I think, and while I like how it came out I know I need a new method; mostly I just take the mane from the horse and duplicate it over so many layers to get the fullness I want. The actual painting part of it is rather frightening still, lol. XD
