Description V.2 Dynamic Hairy Brushes

These, in my opinion, are superior to the original version of the hairy brushes. They flow better, blend nicer, and are all around more fun to play with. Still they work better with a tablet, but I think a light hand with a mouse could do alright too.. I don't know! I have no finesse with mouses anymore. I'm too spoiled.

I gotta add too, I think these would be great for people as well, not just horses. The textures are softer, not so coarse.

No image pack, sorry guys.

Remember:
Play with them, don't just stamp. These are not designed for stamping and tralalaing - they're working brushes, ready to go with whatever you want.
Play with the brush settings, learn what works for you.
Keep a natural hair flow when creating manes/tails/hair of any sort! Think of wind currents; zoom out to view the picture as a whole before zooming in to create hair.
Use a light hand with them!
Don't forget to use the individual brushes at the end to help "refine" the hair.

Original Dynamic Hairy Brushes:

Made with Adobe CS4. 8 Dynamic brushes and a few hard/slanted brushes that I used to create them.

Please show me what you create with them!! Just like with the original Dynamic Hairy brushes, I'll replace this brush preview picture with another featuring clips of images that used these brushes. It's great promotion for your art, free and easy to do.

Good luck with them.

Is it possible for you to put this in a ZIP file? I use GIMP (don't have PS) and I would really love to use these.

Soo now I'll try these again. I work with them a time ago and they are not the same for me, like the originals. Maybe I just have had bad days when I tried these pack. =3

I think a lot depends on what you're using and your style of art.. how you use your brushes, how you hold your hand and your touch on the tablet, etc. Everyone moves differently, and that's ok - differences is what makes art so varied and great!

After reading thousands of comments and notes though, I believe it's mainly in the style of the artist themselves. Some brushes work amazing for amazing artists, but I can't use them a whit! It looks like absolute *crud* with me, while other brushes I can use without a problem.

Good luck with it though, I hope they work out. If not, I'm sorry!

Is there a GIMP version? These brushes don't seem to work for GIMP right.

Nena902NJ In reply to howrseluvar [2011-12-10 14:34:12 +0000 UTC]

I just threw them in my Gimp and they work fine. What version are you working with? I just removed my old one completely and put the latest version in. I have a ton of ABR brushes in my Gimp and they all work just fine as is with no conversion through ABR Viewer. If you still can't get them to work, download ABR Viewer, convert them to PNG's, open them in GIMP one at a time and save them as GBR.

howrseluvar In reply to Nena902NJ [2011-12-10 14:36:47 +0000 UTC]

Do they appear as "stamps" to you, or as a brush?
I'm trying that right now, but I'm curious.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Nena902NJ In reply to howrseluvar [2011-12-10 15:10:01 +0000 UTC]

They are definitely brushes. They take color and also you can apply them by single clicking or dragging them. If you need help trying to load them into your Gimp program, let me know. Otherwise I can find the ABR Viewer program for you which is sometimes better since it turns an ABR into pngs that you can select the ones you want and disgard the rest and then just convert them to GBR.

PS: Not quite sure what you mean by "stamp".

These (sorry I'm not the stock provider but) are Photoshop brushes actually, so I don't think it will work. Actually they work even better with a tablet at that fact.
