Description V.2 Dynamic Hairy Brushes

These, in my opinion, are superior to the original version of the hairy brushes. They flow better, blend nicer, and are all around more fun to play with. Still they work better with a tablet, but I think a light hand with a mouse could do alright too.. I don't know! I have no finesse with mouses anymore. I'm too spoiled.

I gotta add too, I think these would be great for people as well, not just horses. The textures are softer, not so coarse.

No image pack, sorry guys.

Remember:
Play with them, don't just stamp. These are not designed for stamping and tralalaing - they're working brushes, ready to go with whatever you want.
Play with the brush settings, learn what works for you.
Keep a natural hair flow when creating manes/tails/hair of any sort! Think of wind currents; zoom out to view the picture as a whole before zooming in to create hair.
Use a light hand with them!
Don't forget to use the individual brushes at the end to help "refine" the hair.

Original Dynamic Hairy Brushes:

Made with Adobe CS4. 8 Dynamic brushes and a few hard/slanted brushes that I used to create them.

Please show me what you create with them!! Just like with the original Dynamic Hairy brushes, I'll replace this brush preview picture with another featuring clips of images that used these brushes. It's great promotion for your art, free and easy to do.

This stock is (almost) RESTRICTION FREE. I have two rules only:

1. Do not redistribute.
2. Do not claim as your own - this includes not crediting me and saying, "Rest my own resources" or "Rest done by me" or the like.

Other than that, have at it! Prints, commercial, off site.. whatever you want.

Good luck with them.

You need version 2.4 and higher to use photoshop brushes in gimp. They work in my gimp just fine

Awesome! I have 2.6. Although, when I did download them, they didnt work. Is there anything special you have to do to change their format?

SecretLineage In reply to Veralidaine96 [2011-03-20 01:50:53 +0000 UTC]

I didn't have to. You download them then copy and paste them into your brushes folder in the gimp 2.6 folder. My gimp 2.6 folder is under C:/Users/my computers name/.gimp-2.6/brushes

How exactly do you download 'em? Sorry to annoy, but I honestly can't get them:
I download them and put them in the Gimp Brushes folder, but when I open GIMP, they never show up in my brushes. AH!

Thanks a million. xxx

by any chance lovette could you possibly change these too GIMP brushes? I don't have the software on my computer to be able to change them myself because of the file type or else I'd get your permission and then do that if you said yes
But the file type for GIMP brushes is .gbr and I'd love to use these if I could!

i tried using these, but they just looked like badly-blended supposed-to-be-stamped brushes. :< i dunno if i'm using them wrong? they just don't give the effect they give in the preview. i use them like i used the v1 Dynamic Hairy brushes.

is there a particular way to use these that's different from the original? :<

i don't usually, but i have one and using it with a tablet still made it look messy. :<

arrsistable In reply to statictheory [2010-12-16 21:48:47 +0000 UTC]

Awwwww really? I did the preview pic using a light hand, brushing and changing the sizes some. I didn't even enhance it with any of the hard round brushes or the like.. that was done just using the dynamic brushes i created.

statictheory In reply to arrsistable [2010-12-17 16:38:24 +0000 UTC]

i'll fiddle with it more when i get home. if i can get it to look like the preview image they'll be perfect, but if not i'll just stick with my previous method. thanks for your help, i appreciate it <3
