Recently, I've been hooked on an anime called Berserk. Some of you hardcore anime fans are probably thinking, "Man, you just found out about it?!" or "Have you been living under a rock or something?!"With that out of the way, I did this pic after I saw episode...17? where Griffith drinks the poison at the party. This pic took me a while to sketch because I was thinking of a good pose for Guts. May your opinions of this sketch flourish this page.
This is Guts or Gatsu (I prefer Guts) from the anime series Berserk.

Well, don't feel bad about discovering Berserk back in 2003 and being late to the party, because I've only just discovered Berserk within the last couple of months! It is so awesome!

fantastic series. as a side note the show ends around Manga 13, it leaves out some graphic things that give a little bit more to the characters if you read the series. [link] is where i go to read it. as a side note for the guys who dont know, japan is working on continuing the series from where it left off. if you havent seen past the series thats out now.... GO READ!!!! if you think guts is awesome now, wait until later... i was reading an interview with the creator and he said he wanted it to be GUTS but they didnt have it in japan so it was changed to gattsu when spoken and gutts when written. or something like that. heres a link to some of my fan art since i dont know how to do it properly [link]

Yea, my sister followed the manga after watching the anime. The Berserk cast go through so much sh!t that it's insane! Can't wait for the new series of movies they're releasing! Guts FTW!

Goodness I loved this anime sooo much. My uncle has all the episodes but I really want to rad the manga cause the anime was so short

If you have watch the anime, now is the time to read the Mangga. You will miss 70% of the experience if you dont read.
The Anime covers only 12 volumes of the 32 volume manga series.

Very nice drawing. The style gives it a real kinetic feel, and the lines are nice and clean. Keep it up! We need all the good original Berserk fanart we can get on DA!!
As for his 'official name' Miura himself has repeatedly spelled it as 'Guts' in English. If I had read any of the manga in English, I probably would agree, but I came up through the series with the katakana 'Ga (tsu) tsu', therefore he'll always be Gatts to me.
Oh, and Berserk still is the number 1 fantasy manga in Japan.

All the serious fans/readers (and not the ones that correct people with their ^_^ faces) know that his official name is Guts. I haven't seen the anime or had the desire to, but I know that the manga pretty much blew my mind. I hear it's also the #1 adult manga in Japan for awhile (it was started in like 1989 or something and is still going pretty strong today) I'm glad that people liked the anime, because I can't watch it from being spoiled by the heavily inked awesomeness of the graphic novel. You did Guts a service: stylized in a different way while keeping the likeness! I'd like to see that more often but alas.

This pic would be perfect for the base of a fight scene with about 4 or 5 baddies attacking because it would seem that its almost a blocking stance!!!! Do it!

great job! i love the pose, i can see his well-known fiery anger in it. i also love your drawing technique -- many many weak lines, searching for the right shape, then choosing where to put the final vision, just a bit linear shading here & there.. superb. once again, my admiration..
oh btw, 'bout that "living under a rock" thing.. you see, only today have i found out about "trigun" and vash.. now, who's been living under a rock..? and i'm concidered to be a big anime-freak by my friends!
