Love the remake in blue! I remember when your red one hit the fp. It motivated me, thank you! (Featured in The Anti-Hype) plus.google.com/u/0/communitieβ¦

great image
btw i'm curious to what your light setup is? also those feet don't look like they touch the ground... are you using ambient occulsion?

Wow, this is such an amazing render, I had to seek comments to see if it was or was not a picture. You've certainly fooled me into thinking it was a real life model.

a hundred of these little buggers would be a pain in the ass to fight, especially if they were the size of dinner plates.

The smooth red texturing worked much better, IMO - you can see too much pulling in the mapping happening on its back with that patterened blue stuff. The metallic and glassy/silver sections however are superb. And as with the little red render, I LOVE the design.
(Again- if it weren't for the mapping on its back, I would never believe it's CGI. Looks like something right out of an MIT lab, or a secret project by the DOD...)

Very nice. I love the spider-robot's design. Perhaps I'm nitpicking a bit but the floor tile texture looks a little odd as it goes off into the distance due to it being scaled down so much by the perspective. Maybe if you added a mist filter or similar environmental effect you could soften these artifacts.

While it looks cool, I don't know if the way in which the metal contacts the ground would be the most practical traction for it to move around. Seems as though, if you made a more comfortable looking foot, it would be more convincing as a realistic model.
Still, I like it very much.

Thanks for the feedback. Much appreciated. As for this model, it was more a doodle than anything else. The foot started out as an idea for a claw or finger for a larger mech. It just evolved this way.

HDRI is something I have yet to get into; but I take it that it is the light source which lights the scene and is reflected in all of the shiny bits. It's nicely done, because it very subtly gives a feel for a whole world out there.
Love the model!
Very minor criticism is that the whole scene is just a little bit dull at present, but I take it that's part of your current experimenting.

Very cool design, very simple mechanical design, but you can tell how things would work when it moves. Very cool indeed
