This image reminds me of some futuristic earth scene, like something from Dougal Dixon's "After Man" book.
Some sort of giant arachnid? I dig it.

This picture is awesome in terms of artistic skill, but I have mixed feelings about what it showsยด, despite my soft spot for solifugids.

the contrast of colors really help this version.
The insect is obviously the scavenger, but how does it manage to steal prey? Does it hide, or does it quickly snatch the food away and go off, protected by armor?

It's large enough to bully the other predators away from their kills. The only thing that eats a Devourer are other Devourers (they must not taste good)

I could picture this as part of an Animal Planet documentary about another world or something.
