Description
Was asked to do a re-design concept of Godzilla for some folks who wanna make a short series of movies.I was supposed to make him look seriously evil, and I think it turned out pretty well. ^_^

wow. interesting concept! im digging the design. only thing i can say against it is. . .where is the rest of the tail? or do you think of leaving it that short? if not, putting a more whip like approach on it would fit this nicely. just a thought

It would be relatively thick down to the end and have crocodile-like plates for swimming.

yeah, but the difference is that the skin starts to burn away on his mouth and throat as he uses it, only to regenerate and scar over.

O.o. nice! now, becuase of the damage it does to him, is there a limit to how many times he can fire the blast untill he regenerates?

Well he regenerates super quickly, and his bones hold up to the heat, so when he's done with the blast, you can see his skin "crawling" back over his skull as it regenerates. If he goes berserk with it he's left with a flaming skull, Ghostrider style! (I really need to draw that now)

sweet. sounds awesome. does he give any indication that hes going to fire? breating, glowing spines, growl. anything? and what kind of damage are we talking about with the beam? any varients to it? narrow, wide, short, far, ect ect. can he charge it up? o, and dont mind the curiosity.

I think I'd stick with the traditional Godzilla canon, the glowing spines, etc. I think when he goes berserk and uses the beam to the point that it melts his face that the beam is shooting out of his eyes and nose as well. I also like the idea that the radiation around him is so severe it will cause burning almost instantaneously, (plants will spontaneously burst into flame, skin burns, etc.) so he's even more dangerous.

Not really, my involvement with the now-defunct project was conceptual design, and that's about it.

Are you planning on making any of the other Godzilla monsters? I'd love to see what you could do with Hedorah and Destroyah.

I did a few sketches for Destroyah, and went really far on Gigan, who ended up being the Europa Beast from my Nightmare Menagerie series with cybernetic prosthetics. I might post a doodle in scraps eventually

, I can understand wanting him to look like he's suffering from radiation poisoning, but this design looks like an generic evil zombie Zilla with Godzilla 2000's head and spines attached.

I like the way he's crouched over kind of like the tri-star goji but how he keeps his original facial identity and doesn't look like a giant pissed iguana. Very cool redesign.

Now THIS is what I'm talking about!
FINALY a redesign that looks edgy and new but keeps with Godzilla's actule appearens! It incorperates real dinosaure traits, aquatic attributes, and classic Godzilla atonemy! This isn't a T-rex with Godzilla's spines slaped on it but an animal that was mutated and morphed by the atomic bomb. This is what the writers intened!

im sorry, but this looks more GINO than anything.
besides godzilla isnt a fuckin alligator, he's a mix beetween a mutated dinasour (not exactly a t-rex tough) and a sea beast.

Okay, it's been like, three years almost...
This hardly looks like an alligator or GINO. The only part that resembles GINO is the arms, and then only a little. Sea beast? Just what vague creature do you speak of? This redesigns is very aquatic, and very dinosaurian. It is as Godzilla as you can get with that posture.

didnt come out very much like yours but I did what I could heh, your drawing is way to complicated for me to make in my cg program(my model is more loosely based off of yours due to yours being amazingly well made and complicated lol)

Quite nice. I'm sure you delivered on their suggestions, but I don't like Godzilla hunched over too much. It likens him to something that hunts, probably in packs, and diminishing his individuality and that inexplicable force of nature type stature he's got. I like him standing tall, like a mountain. But it's definitely a great piece of work here.

Yeah, I'm not sure either way. They wanted the Godzilla '98 posture. I kinda like how it makes him look threatening and predatory, but I've always been a fan of the classic posture as well. Except for the GMK Godzilla, he looked like he had weight and back problems! XD

Hahaha! That's funny. I'm actually the guy behind the film, he's the producer who likes to take all the credit.
Anyways, the movie has no set release right now, In fact the script is still being tweaked. But I needed art for the monster so that when filming starts (again), I'll at least have a design at the ready.
