Thank you! Its one of my oldest (and favourite) pieces (1984 I think) and I'm thinking of revisiting it to compare with my style now.
The original is hanging in my sister's house as I did it for her 18th birthday.

Yes, it's Scott Madsen - the Soloflex model. I'd considered removing it because the guy is such a homophobe, but I think karma might have visited him during the two years he's just spent in prison for embezzling his uncle out of $250,000.

Hi, thanks for your kind comments. The main technique is basically crosshatching - going in one direction, and then going at about a 90degree angle. This one I did about 20years ago when I also used to 'smudge'. There is a member here called Snigom who has some very good tutorials on pencil shading in their gallery if you're interested.
