Support the Random Browsing!Wait, what's this?
This is a greasemonkey script that places the Random Deviant and Random Deviation links where they belong - up in the mainBar next to your friends.
I mean, why?
Because 60% of the people are unaware of the Random Deviation and Random Deviant links down there on the bottom of the page.
Also, since they now show on the top, you don't need to scroll down to press them again if you want to jump to the next random deviant/deviation.
I want to start using it. How?
In order to use it, you must be using Mozilla or Mozilla Firefox, and you must have the Greasemonkey extension installed.
If you have any previous versions of randomLinks installed, uninstall them. (Firefox Menu>Tools>Greasemonkey>Manage User Scripts select the script and click uninstall)
Next, click
≣ INSTALL LINK ≣ to install the (newer) script and a greaseMonkey script installation window will open. To install the script press the "Install" button.
And that's it. Next time you open any page on deviantArt, this script will place a link to the random deviant/deviation on the mainBar next to the friends button.

This is great, I hate how they hide those two links at the bottom.
The only problem is, I had it installed, uninstalled something else, and this disappeared along with it. It's no longer listed in the scripts and doesn't show up on dA, but if I try to install it now, it gives me an error and says the file is already installed.

check this folder to see if it's there:
C:\Documents and Settings\your_win_username\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\random_letters.default\gm_scripts\
Look for deviantartrandomlinks.user.js
...also open the xml file config.xml (it's located in the same folder) and see if there is something like:

Can't; the laptop is from a school program, so currently they control (and block) everything, so I cannot access any folders such as that.

That's was the main reason why I moved them up there. I used those links regularly in dAv4 but when the layout changed in dAv5 I stopped using them, and since I missed them so, I started a forum thread to write a petition for dA to move the links up in the main bar, or at least to find someone who would make a script that would do that.
No one offered to help so I had to do it by myself, I had no idea how to do it but I read about the greaseMonkey scripts, explored the deviantArt html structure, experimented a bit, and voila.

you should also put a note telling people they have to uninstall the previous version as well so that non-technical people can make full use of it. just thought I'd let you know that.

That Firefox Journal is a feature, like, something I thought many people would find useful. So I made a journal entry to keep all those interesting extensions in one place. I credited everyone for everything they made and informed them that I featured their work in one of my journal and they've even thanked me for that.
This is different. This is a deviation. My idea, my work, my code. 100%.
I even started a forum thread in Suggestions forum, thinking that someone could make this script, but no one was interested, so I read some documentation for greaseMonkey scripts, took a look into the structure of the deviantArt pages, done a few experiments, and made it myself.
It's nothing much, only several lines of code, but I think it's pretty useful change. (At least for me)

no i don't think you would upload anyone else's work but i just saw a pic then some links to it so i thought you might have found an interesting mozilla feature that you wanted to inform people about so you made a dev to show people and referenced the site/install link so others could get it too. good work I like it makes it a lot easier for me lol.

Well, I don't know if the deviant download button would do the job, but it was easier to test it on an outside server and I plan to make it autoUpdateable so...

Bas sam se pitala gde su nestali u novoj verziji. Posto imam gomilu extenzija za dA, imam u jednom od padajucih menija (ne znam bolji naziv, tako su nas ucili u skoli

Da, da, to je problem o kome sam pisao tamo gore... ljudi ili ne znaju gde su linkovi ili ni ne znaju za njih uopšte... a ja verujem da je poseta randomDeviant-ima prava stvar za zajednicu a ne one lolly-jeve fore tipa "Comment here and I'll watch you"...
Šta imam od toga što ću gledati gomilu ljudi koje ni ne poznajem niti mi se svidjaju njihovi radovi?
Random je pos'o... par puta kliknem i naletime na nešto dobro, a ako je baš dobro - e onda watch...
Ali obzirom da su 80% devianta manga, anime i fanart teško je ubosti nešto dobro

Slezem se u potpunosti zato i nisam bila u fazonu da to stavljam u svoj journal. Ionako bih makar polovinu tih ljudi skinula sa watch-a posle nekog vremena iznervirana glupostima koje postavljaju. Mada, ja sam vise za varijantu Random Deviation, jer time odmah odem na sliku i vidim da li me to uopste zanima, ali je Random Deviant super varijanta, pogotovo sto ne zavrsis na necijoj strani samo zato sto on ima mnogo PV-a i mnogo ljudi ga pominje. E, kad smo kod toga, mogao bi da napravis nesto ovako i za Random Deviation, a?
Jos jednom se slazem. P.S. Mislim da cemo sada zavrsiti u kazanu, tj bismo kada bi neko preveo.
