Here's hoping the next XCOM's got something to do with Terror from the Deep.

Sadly no.
Also, * XCOM 2, since the third rebooted installment hasn't come yet.

Oh, I remember that. I was worried that XCOM 3 had been announced with no TFTD connections since 2 ended with the weird purple swirl on the sea floor.

This reminds me of the style that the new shadowrun is going with. Nice work!

Xcom rocks.
The folks who try to do the remakes miss the essence of Xcom and only look at the superficial stuff. I bet most of them did not play the game.
Xcom was one of those games in which you would start playing at 10pm and suddenly its 4am.
Looks great.

can you give me a hint about how to handle terror-missions early in the game?

I wish I remembered more but I have not played in years.
Not sure it even runs in Win 7.
I had collected tips for Xcom from a magazine and threw them out last week.
Maybe you can find hints from doing a google search.
Most of what I remember from Xcom 1
What I remember:
1. You only need one of anything to research, sell the rest for money or use it.
2. Go slowly and make sure there is someone on watch. If you have 2 people, move one guy up to half of his movement points and do not move the other guy. If something shows up, the guy that did not move can react to enemies. Next move, move the guy that did not move and do not move the other guy.
3. Save often.
4. Always have some rookies on your team, they need training too.
Wish I could remember more.

The best ones do.
You might like Clive Barker's "The Undying", the graphics are old
school but it still has lots of atmosphere. Some of the gameplay elements are old school like an over reliance on jumping. I know a cheat that allows me to get past that. Undying works fine in Win7.
Hellgate london is buggy but if you look past them there is a pretty good shooter. Things have popped up out of the ground in front of me and I have jumped.
If you have a 64 bit computer you do not need the cd to play and if you have a directx 10 video card or higher you will see some cool eyecandy. If you decide to install the game add the 2 patches first and then play. There are some big changes between the first and 2nd patch.

Painkiller
Old school shooter but the environments are very detailed and there are a lot of places to fight in.

Mate, I love this game. It's one of those jewels I've finished and I keep reinstalling for some extra fun from time to time. It's amazing with such huge fandom there is nearly no good fanart for this game.
We need a rebuild of the original just upgrading the graphics. Whoever does that will receive so mucho love, jaja.

Holy shit, this is PERFECT. Combine this background art style with 3D models and we would finally have a real new Xcom game.
...
well of course this will never happen

Great work!
I agree, X-Com games in 3D are just ruined by the 'fancy' graphics.
That's why I'm building Isochron [link] with a true 2D retro feel.
Long live turn based isometric strategy games!
