Description

Species: Elasmosaurid Eromangasaurus australis (synonyms E. carinognathus and Tuarangisaurus australis).

Fossil: Nearly complete skull, mandible and cervical vertebrae.

Age: Toolebuc Formation, Late Albian, Early Cretaceous.

Location: Eromanga Basin, Queensland, Australia.

Stats: Eromangasaurus adult total length 7 m long.

Kronosaurus adult up to 10 m long.

Extra info: Remains show evidence of a traumatic attack by a larger predator. Three prominant bite marks on the skull are consistant with a large plesiosaur, with the obvious candidate from the same formation being the giant pliosaur Kronosaurus/Eiectus. Although the specimen is badly crushed, the skull's suture lines indicate that the individual was a sub-adult.
