So many gorgeous colors! The scales are incredible, and you've pulled such amazing emotion out of this! I love the ruts in the ground from the black dragon digging in, it's a really interesting detail! I also love the way the red dragon reflects back on the black dragon's scales!

so glad you liked it...you're the first to mention noticing the ruts or the reflected red...I had a lot of fun spreading that red around and finally someone noticed that detail

you would think so, wouldn't you.....big black is actually her friend, though he does then to growl with irritation quite frequently when she's around....which is what he's just getting ready to do right now

Wow, I would go crazy doing all of those scales! I love the colors (especially the red dragon) and the flow of the composition, though it may be just a tad top heavy in terms of the colors, light and dark. It does draw attention to the Unicorn, which is probably the point

Yep, on the scales, and yep on the strong colors...I almost think it's more of a red against white contrast...if it were just the black dragon I don't think it would feel so extreme...that's a brilliant red dragon ( I might have gotten a little carried away

Yeah, I think you are right about the red dragon and the contrast against the white, but it is so beautiful! In this case, it is ok that you got carried away!

lol, let's hope, and we have to remember that there will be other shapes and color added in.....title and author, so that will 'add' to the composition

Gosh, seems like it would be hard to do a cover for a book, as you have to take stuff like that into consideration. I am positive it will turn out great, though!

It is hard, and of course it's been a learning process for me. So far the others have looked pretty good, though I've not been 100% happy with any of them.
