when you say you erased... you erased your original layer? or applied a lighter color on a layer above it?

This is really cool. I've heard the term speedpaint tossed around before, but I never really knew what it meant. I'm currently trying to work on my digital painting skills (currently nill), and am trying to get used to the idea that I don't need to account for every line.

How big are your typical canvases on Photoshop?

Great tutorial - I love seeing the way you work - it is very intuitive and inspired. I love the way the depth and light come out. I guess I really learned something - I will have to experiment with your method and see what happens. See, it was a good tutorial!

I love this tutorial.

You're style is amazing.

It's a feel free to do anything picture.

Looking at it from a distance, I would think it was concept art for a film.

This is what I don't like about DA... people who are actually good, like you, get 30k pageviews. People who have no skills whatsoever, but draw a lot of fan-based arts, get like... hundreds of k's of pageviews.
YOU DESESERVE MORE RECOGNITION.

Seeing how you do speedpainting is just WOW.

I really admire your style and your works. You have so much talent at a really young age! But I do have one question though... most people who make tutorials fail to explain how they work with layers while painting...

I was wondering... with the exception of this work, do you work with tons of layers when you do speedpaints/concept art? Whenever I look at some speedpaints from you and other deviants, I always wonder if like everything is done in one layer because it really looks that way.

Hoping to hear from you soon I'd really appreciate it if maybe you could give me a brief explanation about it

let me tell you someting, you work is amazing, i mean you really understand the idea of "concept art" wich is something very powerful when itΒ΄s rendered in a painting like yours.. i d like the "Speed city" most, i think that guys like you really make the difference. well thatΒ΄s all. keep it up. Best wishes.
Jorge.

these gestural techniques are totally the way i thumbnail. that furious pen movement that kinda takes over you, i've only recently applied to painting, but not yet digital painting. the whole sitting down and looking at a screen scenario is certainly a barrier for spontaneous creation but seeing the snapshops of a process you use really shows me that it can totally be done. thanks alot for this, as you have seen, it's moe than well received

this was great. Even though technically it wasn't informative at all, the process in whic you slap colors down and the mindset you keep helped me understand a lot more of what goes into these speedpaintings. I'm going to have to try to do something of this nature.

I think this is more helpful than the tutorials where people make images specifically for the tutorial...like, say you wanted to show someone you know, you'd probably just have them watch you do your thing right? Well this is just like taking snapshots of that. Much more useful, thank you.

This helped me out! Speed painting seems like a really helpful exercise, to bring forth creativity and spontaneity in your art. I'm not sure I know enough about light to do it effectively, but after seeing this step-by-step, I think I have a better idea of how to go about it just to try. Thank you for doing this!

Wow, I think you're really brave to have that kinda mindset about painting. I wish I could use this but you must have a lot of experience of form etc to draw on! But still, it's very inspiring and explains how you come up with those crazy but coherent colour schemes. ^^

Thank you for the look into your mind and how it develops a painting. I've been watching your work for a while and am very impressed, even to the point of awe. The tutorial helps to bring you back from deity level; but I mean that in the best sense. Your type of sketchy conceptualism is what I'm hoping to develop.
