Also, while fusing with her can produce some incredably strong fusions due to her being one of the strongest amplifier gems around, it can be exceedingly dangerous. Like an alchemist using the stone for too long, staying fused with her for too long can cause mutations to the other gems involved, anything from temporarily messing with their shape shifting abbilities to corruption of the gem.

She has a lot of power due to being the ultimate alchemic amplifier, but like the homunculi from fma, she can't really use them much on her own. She can fix minor things on her own with her powers like broken tools and minor wounds, but for the true extent of them to be unleashed, she needs another person to use her after she's receeded into her stone.
being born from the sacrifice of others, she has a deep appreciation of life in all the forms it takes. She's very much a passivist. She's extremely patient and enjoys listening and watching the world around her.

"This is my human." Ok, now I'm imagining Ed going on a quest to find the Philosopher's stone, learning she's a Gem being and intending to capture her, then when he finally finds her she more or less adopts him and he has no idea where his plan went off the rails. Either way, she sticks with him and Al, so they don't complain. Much. (I wonder how everyone else reacts to her)
I get the feeling that the Crystal Gems would at first be disturbed by her, knowing how she came to be and what her purpose is, and they would be incredibly wary about her being around Steven. But Steven would befriend her instantly. (but then Steven finds out her 'purpose' and is upset that his new friend is essentially doomed from the start)

I really like your ideas particularly about the crystal gems reacting to her. 
I imagine other humans might get creeped out by her, since she can kinda read emotions and when she looks at you it can feel like she's silently judging your soul even though she can't. Though Maes hughes would probably still flaunt his daughter in her face. Granted, he might be surprised to find she'd be one of the first people to tell him to continue with his stories about his daughter. She has a quiet appreciation for life, so she would actually enjoy hearing him talk about her.
because of that appreciation, I can also see her wanting to join the crystal gems right away, while they're just "...why...?"

would she be able to control the Red Water at all, or maybe draw strength from it? Or not, since she was created by the deaths of Gems, and Red water is made through other means.
