Quite a number of people have been asking how I come up with designs for adopts, so I thought I'd share what I know and make a tutorial ;w; I am in no way an expert, but I've been on dA for about 3 years now (I have a main account) and I think I'm pretty familiar with adopts at this stage. You don't have to follow my tips if you don't like them, but I'm hoping this helps some people out there ^-^
I also wanted to make this because while there are plenty of adopt design tutorials on dA, most are for animal adopts, not human ones.Β
Bear in mind this is not a general adopt guide. This is a guide purely focusing on designing adopts, specifically human adopts. This guide may not help you much if you can't draw well, but it WILL help if just want to know how to create attractive designs.

Oh, I wouldn't worry about that if I were you. You'll improve naturally over time as you draw more adopts

It might be difficult at the beginning but don't worry, you'll get the hang of it xD I've had 3 years of practice on deviantart, but I had to put in a hella lot of hard work too :/

my designs aren't all that great and my shading is crap XD but I'm still learning and being inspired by friends and others on here!! x3 hopefully soon I'll get the hang of it x3

Oh my gosh, this guide is amazing!! It's really helpful. I think I'll refer to it if I have problems, I think it'll help me if I'm ever stuck coming up with a design!!
But question; the last design, the red kemonomimi, is that a certain adopt/OC? Because I really like them, they're so cool and cute at the same time!!

You can use my go-to list too if you like! I've tried it on tons of characters and I've used at least one of the things listed there for almost every character I've created.
Some other things on the list which I didn't put in this guide are kimonos(they look very good with bandages), gold bangles (these can go around the neck, arms, legs) and buckled straps(I like using these around the waist and limbs). Most of the stuff on my list can be combined together for good results, I've tried and tested it many times ^-^
I'm very happy this helped you though! It makes me feel like my efforts in making this guide was worth it ;w;
