It's been a while since I did a character driven image with a more intimate mood. I think my last one was this, almost exactly one year ago: arthurblue.deviantart.com/art/…There are several possible interpretations to this one. I have my own, of course, but I'd rather not disclose it because I don't want to influence your thoughts. I'd love to read about them, though.

I feel this excursion into character led art speaks volumes about your approach to Art. She maybe connected to an umbilical which signifies something different to our normal expectations but her expression shows hope and anticipation after an awakening, how and why we will never know but she is clearly waking to engage in existence of the highest order. To my eyes she has been re energised from the umbilical during a rest period and is waking in peak condition. The sunlight signifies a new day, new beginning, a new adventure in existence…
This image inhabits the world of the orange white interconnectivity, a re charging facility maybe as it always seems to lead to the natural world beyond its boundaries. It is a benevolent environment in my mind set to be a launchpad for adventures and a safe haven in all aspects. It is a place that i would be strive to live in..
I read a comment about the nudity and would like to say that the only articles of clothing to me that are important are the red covering and the umbilical. To be naked is to exist without confines and to accept ones place in the physical world. In a sequence including the exit, first dream, Wake up and dream alternative the coexistence of the humanoid figure with the world around her. She would only need protection at night hence the orange sheet…
Is she an android or just the next perfect incarnation of the human race..?
I personally find all of Arthurs work peaceful and at one with the Universe. He seems to celebrate the concept of anticipation. The figure in Awake is looking towards the sunlight beckoning her to experience its life affirming rays…
It is such a positive way of looking at the Universe beyond our shores and the most rewarding visions i have thus far encountered in my 51 years.
Technically i have no idea whether what he is attempting conforms with what is expected. I just know that it works for me on more levels than i can honestly count. He has ticked all my boxes, including the ones i did not know i had…

White. That was first thing that she remembered seeing. A field of white intersected, and divided by beams of a brilliant ruby red. She reached out her bare right and ran her supple fingers red gaps between the white plates on the floor beneath her. It felt so strange, so bizarre, and yet...
...and yet it was oddly soothing as well. It was like a maze. A labyrinth
Red cables slunk around the floor, sneaking, crawling its way toward her. One wrapped around her right shoulder. It went behind her head and out of her sight. But she felt it. Felt it right inside the back of her head. A blanket of the reddest, softest silk was wrapped loosely around her body. She was naked and felt every fiber of that cloth and every seam in the floor as it rubbed against her smooth sensitive skin.
The thought occurred to her that the simple fact that she was completely naked in a sealed room with a substantial piece of sophisticated digital cable sticking out of her head, should have bothered her.
But it didn't. Nothing really seemed to bother her...not that she could remember to be bothered very much by.
She couldn't remember her name.
She couldn't remember a thing about her past, that is if she even had a past.
The only place she could remember was that room.
The extent of her life, as she knew it, was in that room.
Just then a seem appeared in the wall to her right. She watched as the seemed grew wider and wider. Before long an open doorway stood before her, a doorway filled with light. Into that light stepped a man. A man dressed in the suit and white lab coat of a scientist engineer.
He looked like a young man. A man with a mop of wild unruly jet black hair. He wore a pair of dark lensed glasses and a smile on face.
She watched as he took two steps into the room and knelt before her on the white tiled floor.
"I know that you might not know it," he began in a sort of nervous, uneasy sort of voice. "...but I think...I believe that you'll understand..." he paused as he took a short deep breath. His smile broadened even wider. "We were able to purge your neural network of all the company's programming...you're free!"
"Free..." she whispered. She stared at her hands as she tried to process what this stranger had just said. "Free..." she repeated as the concept slowly dawned on her. "Free!"

That brilliantly crafted image cried out, as did the Lady upon the floor, for her story to be told.
A story that I saw within the pleading eyes of that angelic and radiantly realistic woman on the floor.

The kinky side in me wants to say she is a captured and cyborgified girl awaiting her new master's entrance and commands. yet no figure stands in the opening light.
But I'd rather think it goes a bit like this:
A new cyborg awakens from her first download. Hey eyes flutter to life as she takes in her enhancements. Moods, feelings, thoughts she never thought possible! Her life has been meaningless and full of confusion until now. Clarity, strength, even lust flow powerfully inside her mind. The door slowly opens automatically as she gazes upon the world with new eyes. What will she do with her new abilities? Use it to help others? Go explore? a bit of both perhaps? Or does she have some dark motive behind it. Perhaps she is seeing it artistically or perhaps she is some kind of scientist enhancing her thoughts to cure some plague.
Whatever her reasons, she is content. She is feeling so good inside, perhaps even gaining some sexual pleasure from it. Her eyes do not show addiction or overwhelming instead she is calm, in control, ready.
Another way to look at her pose is ready to strike. She now has her power and her powerful mind, ready to take on this world, save it from some force or exact revenge on someone. She is recovering from the intense rush it has brought her and she slowly rises to the morning's light. The power courses through her like a goddess. She is ready. Whatever she is going to do next, she will prevail.

Thank you! I am very much a fan of sci fi, and strong heroines/female characters I can look up to.
My character Zoey (when not posing for cute pics) is very much like that as well, using computer enhancements to take down the man who kiled her sister on a druglord planet.

reminds me of resident evil crossed with the matrix. so instead of waking up in a world overrun with zombies, waking up in a world with mostly robots and few humans. not like there was a robot revolution but humans just started dying out and are seen as status symbols by robots. to have one is the new "it" accessory

I'm sure someone (or the most one) see the same, but I don't want to read the comments untill I have written this.
I see a similarity to your Image FEM-27 (I was looking through your Gallery befor I see this one) and the Wire reminds me a bit,
so I would say she is the newest Generation of Androids and was caged in a boxroom, now the door open and she wake up. But something is different,
she won'd do everything she have to, she don't want to be an android, she won't accept this...

Fascinating! Thanks for sharing your thoughts, it was really interesting. From all the interpretations so far, yours is the most similar to mine. In my mind, there are some more details and symbolisms (the meaning of the red lines, why there are two cables and not only one, the meaning of the shape of the light coming in) but your direction is similar to mine.
In fact, in my early versions of this image, she had some more obvious android features (some metal parts and so on) but I removed it all because I didn't want to be too obvious.

I find the vivid detail in this image striking. It's very gripping and realistic, and I especially love the pipeline snaking away from her head, to me that is the most interesting and realistic part.
My only regret is that she is indecent, and thus I cannot add this art piece to my favorites. I of course understand that you will not be changing it, as your art is your own to handle as you see fit, but I thought you might like to hear my point of view.
As for interpretations... after looking at all the pieces in the series (none of which I find as moving as this piece) I think I can understand this best from a Portal/Chell point of view. These people are trapped, whether in a prison of the mind, a prison of their own making, or by an outside force, and they are struggling to find the way to break free. The thing is, I'm not even sure if they break free in the "Wake up" image (which I have decided makes the most sense as the last in the series), as although the figure is outside in the sunshine, it is clear that this is only a small clearing in the maze, and the walls surround the garden on all sides.
Take what you will from that.

Regarding her "indecency", that was very interesting as well. I was careful to hide all her intimate parts but I see it was not enough.
I see you're from USA. I'm from Europe. What you call indecent in USA is totally different from what we do. USA is much more conservative. For us, it's normal, for example, to have naked breasts during prime time in national television, in open channels. Even outdoor advertisement have women much more naked than mine.
Interestingly, USA seems to be much more tolerant to weapons and violence than it is to nudity, in general, which I find really strange. In Europe, it's the other way around. We see nudity as a natural thing. In fact, if you think about it, it really is...

Thanks! Yes, the room is my creation, as the tubes and cloths. All modeled and textured from scratch. The other rooms on that series, with the little boy, are done with similar methods.
