-------------------------

My images about the future are normally optimistic. This one has perhaps a mixed feeling, depending on your interpretation.

The titles comes from a poem by Lewis Carrol. It seemed appropriate.

This was, as always, rendered in Vue.

I like to use sand in my images. Here are some where sand takes an important part of the composition:

EDIT: wow, a DD! Thanks a lot to UJz for suggesting it and MoonBeam13 for featuring it. This is my 9th DD.

EDIT: please visit dandylion0505 and read his poems. If you follow my images, you'll understand why. Amazing...

Thanks! I go where my mind takes me. I try not to fight it when it wants to go somewhere else, sometimes.

I can understand why you love to use sand so much; every time you do, it is incredibly gorgeous! It's amazing how much this looks like a photograph, rather than something rendered on a computer.

Thank you!
Regarding realism, it's not my target on itself - realism is, for me, just a tool to help convincingly "sell" a strange concept.

I'd still love these concepts if they weren't done in realism; they aren't really strange to me, I've always dreamed of worlds like the ones you create.

Seems pretty optimistic to me. Then again, you did say it's up to perspective.

I'm glad you find it optimistic. It means the overall mood was powerful enough to divert the attention from what could be perceived as a significant rise in the water level due to the global warming.

Thanks! You can do it, there are many tools at our disposal now to put on screen almost anything you can imagine. It just needs the time and persistence to learn it.

pumpkinman68 In reply to ArthurBlue [2014-04-04 06:25:22 +0000 UTC]

What is the tool used to boost imagination ? I wasn't thinking about tools or softwares but about artistic composition. Haven't you never experienced the feeling to
admire a picture and say to yourself "I would have liked to create this picture !" knowing that you don't have naturally the inspiration to create it ? I assure you that no tools help in this case

ArthurBlue In reply to pumpkinman68 [2014-04-04 19:30:05 +0000 UTC]

Ah, I understand now. Well, you may find it strange but I do have a tool to boost my imagination: a hot shower. Sometimes, when I'm stuck on some concept and can't unwrap it, I go to the shower, close my eyes with hot water pouring down, let my mind wander freely and a few minutes later, most often than not, an idea will come up. Try it, maybe it'll work with you too.
And yes, I know exactly what you mean. Many times I look at an image and think exactly what you said. This normally happens with character images. I prefer to make landscapes and environments but truth is that when I try to create an original character I fail miserably. For example, I wish I had the talent of this guy to make characters: www.vandalhigh.com/

Peter Mohrbacher is indeed the kind of great artist I like too (thank you for making me see, I am fond of this kind of drawings). The strange thing is that his characters are often "dark"/"pessimistic" whereas I found your pictures "luminous"/"optimistic"... a strange opposition. The final moral of our story could be that artists have always a master ! Anyway, thanks you to lift the secrecy about our "imagination boosting tool", I'll try

I know what you mean about our opposite styles. I guess we all have "light" and "dark" inside of us...

Não tinha pensado nessa semelhança mas sim, é verdade. De facto, a minha inspiração veio mais da arquitectura árabe e índia, como o Taj Mahal e similares, por causa da localização (deserto).
