Just because Boco's personality is similar to that of Edward doesn't automatically make him a clone of him. By this logic, that would also make Skarloey and Rheneas clones of Edward. And it would make James a clone of Gordon, Percy, Bill and Ben clones of Thomas, Ashima a clone of Lady, Twinkletoes-- er, I mean Diesel Ten, a clone of Diesel, Rebecca a clone of Molly.... you get the idea.ΒThomas the Tank Engine belongs to Mattel.

I absolutely agree! ARandomGuy235 literally tried to use the idea of Boco being a clone of Edward as an excuse to hate him. I can understand if he thinks that Boco is overrated since I think he is too but characters should be hated because of their actions and certainly not because of some subjective excuse that can easily be debunked.

Exactly, I just find it hypocritical that he finds Boco bland and hates him because of that yet loves Ashima despite Boco having way more story potential than Ashima ever had.

ARandomGuy235 also said he doesn't like the look of BoCo which is honestly the definition of a shallow argument, I mean if he also doesn't like BoCo because of his looks then that means he also doesn't like the entireΒ BR Class 28 AKA Metropolitan Vickers Type 2 class as a whole because of their looks (As if the Metrovicks didn't have a poor enoughΒ reputation as they already had).
I meanΒ twinkletoes-97 hates Gordon, James, Daisy & Duck but at least she makes some good valid points as to why she hates these characters.

I never said I dislike BoCo cause of his looks I dislike him cause he really bland and I never said I hate the way he looks I just don't like the way his face is all.

Similarities? Yes. Clones? No.
I personally think Boco/ Toby are similar to Edward because they act like the elderly or fatherly figures to young engines. But being said as a clone to Edward was too far, though I think Boco was underused and under developed in the series.
Sometimes a character being considered as a clone or not to another in terms of personality much more base on now the writers handle the character development. Like Toby he sometimes act like worrisome Henry, sometimes like Edward being wise and a fatherly figure depanding the script.
Even I spot some similarities between Lady and Ashima to the point that I think the latter was the answer to the demand of the fandom asking Lady come back, still refused to said one character is the clone to another, just like another case which is Nia being said to be the clone of Ashima, or Rebacca is the clone of Molly. Though I still cannot deny characters from early era like Lady or Molly were the inspirations of the latter ones.

Though I personally think that TGR would've been better if instead of having these internationals, feature some famous British Railway engines. Mallard instead of Axel, City of Truro instead of Ettienne, Stepney instead of Ashima, Boxhill instead of Ivan, Duchess of Hamilton instead of Frieda, Green Arrow instead of Shane, Wadebridge instead of Vinnie, Capt'n Baxter instead of Gina, Bluebell instead of Raul.... you get the idea. And I would've made Gordon the main star, and turn him into an LNER A4 instead of the American class he became in the actual movie.Β

Either way I think this would bring great story potential for BoCo if they decided to tell the story of his time on the BR, and considering that his number isΒ D5702 (And in real lifeΒ D5702 was scrapped) that their implies to me that BoCo was sentence to be scrapped but escaped to Sodor somehow.
