Description
Suddenly, Arty has a wing! Woo! Decided to update since I got the wing on and do a little fanservice since I realised I had only taken pics of him from one angle. x3 I grabbed my camera and Arty, being the ham he is, did his little turn on the catwalk (the back of my freezer) and now its here for your viewing pleasure.Related content

Hey, forget what your parents say.. the best job is one you positively enjoy, not one you get tons of money for! I'd rather spend my life working a job I love with small pay than one I hate. You have so much talent, go show them how far you can get

That's looking great, bet them scales took a long time, can't wait to see it finished. I love dragon sculptures, I'm gonna have to try making a proper one someday.

Thank you. :3 I always found dragons to be really fun to make, the designs for the face and horns and body are nearly limitless. There was an awesome tutorial I used to help me make my first that I would link you to but unfortunately it seems to have been deleted. As long as you're having fun making it I'm sure it'll turn out great.

i love him!!! i tried wings like that once, on my first dragon...... but they fell off and i got discouraged so i left them off :/ i couldnt figure out how to make the clay thing enough AND get it to stay on the frame...
i've learned since then, but alas, too late for him

Yeah the first dragon who's wings I did this way didn't have wire mesh and looked pretty good. Honestly to this day I cannot remember how in the world I did it lol.
To be honest I don't like the wings right now. His body has so much muscle detail that the wings obscure so when you're looking at him all you see is wing. I'm thinking about taking it off and doing the wings another way but that's gonna be a huge project and I don't even have a desk to sculpt at.

i know what you man.... when i took the wings off my dragon i had mixed feelings. i had placed individual scales all over him and thought "Whew! at least i didnt do all that work for nothing! the wings would have hidden it!"
then i was like "ya dummy.... if you'd put the wings on you wouldnt have HAD to do all that work, no one would have known!" lol i may make another dragon some day, with wings(K'Vruck isnt quite a dragon.. he's a Royal Hunter from a book i read)
But i am loving the torn pieces of the wings. if its possible, keep them and put them on something else (though i see that wire goes through him so that may not be possible :/

Yeah if I took them off I'll probably be cutting through the clay to get it off the base wire that you see on the other side. I dunno they're too bulky I think, I want to do something with film but as of now I have no idea how to go about it.

what kind of film?
one day i want to attempt making wings out of that pleather.. or maybe even real leather one day (the other side of the pleather looks exactly like what it is.... rubber lol)

Fantasy Film is the brand name of it, its used to make farie wings and the like. Trouble is I kinda need to have some sort of frame for it.
