Description Experiment 429 - Klamp - Designed to immobilize fleeing victims. 429 can reach high speeds by rolling into a ball, and once he catches up to his target, his massive jaw is built to clamp onto one leg and never let go. His extra limbs brace against the ground and his armored body make him sturdily indestructible, so once he latches on like a living ball-and-chain, it’s nearly impossible to get out of his grip. Jumba was disappointed in three aspects of this Experiment’s performance: firstly, 429 doesn’t attack unless his victim is running away. Secondly, 429’s teeth are basically harmless, if inescapable, gums. And thirdly, 429 doesn’t chew. Even food he simply throws to the back of his throat and swallows, like a crocodile. This means 429 doesn’t cause any extra damage to the leg of his prisoners while hanging on. But Jumba couldn’t have asked for a more vicious, nasty personality! Lilo and Stitch learned that 429 will release his hold if you can reach his belly and tickle him, but as that’s easier said than done, it was safer to hold their ground and resist running away from Klamp in the first place. His One True Place is with Officer Kahiko as his “K-9” partner, catching bad guys when they try to escape arrest.

Bitey hippocroc.

Klamp’s function is so simple I literally love him. He just. Bites you. And won’t let go. That’s IT.

Klamp’s whole identity and personality can be summed up in straight nasty stubbornness. He loves the thrill of the chase and the satisfaction of a good bite-hold. He gets happiness out of nothing else, except maybe belly rubs, and even then, only from Officer Kahiko.

When Klamp was activated, his first move was to latch on to Stitch’s hind leg and never let go. Even 626’s strength couldn’t outmatch Jumba’s genius jaw construction on 429. This was terrible timing, because Stitch and Lilo were trying to catch a new criminal nicknamed “the Kokaua Town Purse-Snatcher” by the police’s wanted posters. Lilo was hoping to make up for all the trouble she and Stitch had inadvertently been causing her friend, Officer Kahiko, by catching the crook and earning the state’s award money to pay for his auntie’s medical bills. Unfortunately, Stitch wasn’t going to be chasing anyone with Klamp rooting him to the floor, and Lilo’s 7 year-old legs weren’t up to the task alone. It didn’t stop her from trying, though, while Jumba worked to try and remember 429’s weakness. Lilo did manage to trap the Kokaua Town Purse-Snatcher, but if Officer Kahiko hadn’t arrived in time to help, she would’ve learned a scary lesson about why little kids shouldn’t tangle with criminals. A little ashamed of getting out of her depth (at least in earthling-related dangerous adventures!) Lilo confessed her troubles and her dream of helping Officer Kahiko. He thanked her but taught her that she should always ask for help when needing it, and in the meantime, accidentally discovered Klamp’s release mechanism and earned his friendship at the same moment by tickling his belly good-naturedly.

Fast-forward past Klamp’s “episode” to 621’s involvement after Lilo grew up. Officer Kahiko and Klamp put away plenty of Kokaua Town’s sleepy criminals, especially after the Officer became Sheriff. But when he finally found a lady friend and retired to settle down, Klamp went to live with him as a retired K-9 pet. He didn’t find it satisfying. For one thing, the only friend Klamp had was obsessed with his new fiancée. For another, there was no more chasing bad guys, and Klamp became restless. He’d always been single-minded and focused on his job, never socializing much with the other cousins. So when 621 began recruiting, Bonnie and Clyde remembered Klamp from their time in jail and suggested they pay him a visit.

621 did what he does best, pointing out that Kahiko was more focused on his new lady-love than loving his pet alien, and enticing Klamp with the idea of getting to hunt down and trap people like he always enjoyed before. Klamp was reluctant to join the other side of the law after his many years of service, not because he really believed in justice (his mind is too simple for that) but because of loyalty to Officer Kahiko. 621 finally convinced him when they found out that it was Lilo & Stitch who had introduced Kahiko to the woman of his dreams in the first place, therefore encouraging his retirement and ignoring Klamp. Klamp now works with 621, getting into fights with Butter and Grindz until his attention can be diverted by attacks on the Ohana, and loyal only to 621. If he misses Officer Kahiko and his One True Place, it shows itself in bitter biting and chasing after poor Trip, who annoys him during their time on Niihau.

Comment! I missed you all!
