It is! That's the thing though... the description calls them illustrations, so I assume they are paintings with filters/modifications on top.. or perhaps there's a method of painting that effect right off the bat.. I haven't cracked it yet >_< I really wish someone had process posts or something xD I would love to see wips.

Hmm weird. I don't think you can paint it right off the bat. I found this tutorial that might help you if you haven't seen it already. [link] That one doesn't seem like you have to paint a certain way, it's just the channels you choose. I hope it helps.

Yeah, I've read and been reading tutorials on it.. I've also been playing with the channels, including painting directly into the channel itself... Using the lens correction filter doesn't seem to give an extreme enough effect. Perhaps I just need to take more time with it and try to understand exactly what I'm trying to achieve. Thanks for the link though ^_^

You're welcome. You may need to use the pen tool instead to create sharp edges and then use a brush to soften the rest.
