OMG! this is beautiful, when youre working on an illustration like this, do you use photo reference of your Β own design to nail down the lighting , or can you usually find something applicable online. ive heard of this technique, but i dont know how widely used or applicable that method is?

I shoot my own photo reference with friends for more accurate lighting, costume and pose. I try to avoid finding things online to prevent copyright infringement. I really like Donato's process. Check it out
