Turned out alright in the end. I get to see it it one peice after months of work, take a few photos for a few hours, then take it apart and wrap/pack it for shipping. Such is life

That's a shame. But you have the knowledge that it will be in someone's house, admired every day by them, their family and friends. It is also an amazing achievement. A mind-blowing piece of art!

After you've been looking at the same thing for weeks on end, the last thing you want to do is look/admire it in your own home. Maybe that's just me.
Making the things is what interests me and learning/improving. The end result once done, I'm happy for it to find a home where someone appreciates it.
Thanks The next figure I'm doing from a well known fantasy series, will be a lot tougher to get dead right. Old craggy men with beards are easier to do than someone much younger - and dare I say prettier!

I would haveΒ thought that old craggy faces would be more difficult than young pretty faces. Old craggy faces have so much more character (and wrinkles!) to get right.
Hmmm...a well know fantasy series? Not Game of Thrones is it?Β Not thatΒ I've never watched it. I will have to buy the DVD box set when it's really cheap!

The more defined features there are, the easier it is to have definite datum points where things have to line up. "The is a big line there, that's where it needs to go".
With someone with subtle features and not a lot of details, there is less to get a grasp of why they look the way they do, and you're more talking about how the surface planes interact and shapes. The younger they are, harder it generally is. I mean, to me,Β all babies look pretty much the same [Winston Churchill shrunk in the wash]. I'm sure to their mothers they can tell the difference though
Try doing some [large-ish] portraits and you'll find out quickly enough
Could be. I'm going to do the same once the final season comes out. Not that I've seen that show either, but do know some of the characters.
Missed all the hype about Breaking Bad and watched it when they had it on spike over consecutive nights - was worth watching. Wouldn't go and buy it though.
