Description This is part of my final for Advanced Perspective. I redesigned all of the Arvalis group as the first step. These are crude design sketches, I will do up some prettier character paintings for each of these. From left to right: Spektre, Scarlet, Arvalis, Corrina, Javelin, and Arcus.

I find Spektre's armor a little unrealistic. Given he is suppose to fly, all that leather and metal, particularity when it's on one side of his body would be a real hindrance. It also doesn't make much sense deign wise, since as a creature that can fly, mobility is theirs, and thus the cultural evolution of their warfare would favor mid and long range weaponry as they are lighter and would will with their natural ability to get above the enemy. A sword wouldn't make sense as they would be likely to cut their own wings off while using it.

Not only, cant they only glide, but they can mostly do it in their home with is largely volcanic with means many air thermals. In the rest of the world they just high and glide to the ground, closing distances very fast, making swords viable weapons. Not to mention Spektre himself is a battle mage, think of it as similar to a red mage from final fantasy. They dont cut their wings off with their swords, the same way jedi dont cut their robes/capes with their lightsabers.

It's strange because I think both styles have their merits. -talking about eternal 2012 and 2009- But the detail and color on the new version are awesome as usual, even if it is crude sketches.

i think the earlier ones are more realistic (conceptually) and i'd say more appropiate (in my opinion) but obviously the new ones are way better drawn/more detailed

Having followed you for at least the last year I have to say that I enjoy seeing the development in your style. There is a merit to original design but it serves as a testament to the development of your skills and style. These character designs are phenomenal and I hope you are able to complete this story.

Your work from that class is awesome. Im planning on putting together an art book for my final presentation instead of a board, so im doing a ton of work. Hopefully ill fill 20-30 pages.

I like the 2009 ones better, has more character to them in some ways. A lot less detail but I could be biased, the Anime-esque look is something I'm very fond of.

Nope. He was initially inspired by final fantasy dragoons in general. He has since been inspired by 16th century knights with a healthy addition of dragon.

Hmm...I like spektre and Scarlet the best. The designs are more unique and interesting than when all the characters were twenty-somethings, but the poses lack the personality the originals had.

Its not lol. The minimum requirements for our final is 3 characters, 2 environments, and 5 illustrations featuring the characters in those environments. This was just part one of my overly ambitious final.

Divvying up 5 illustrations between 2 environments? Curious. +.+ If it were me I'd just do 5 completely different locations. More fun, & less wracking my brain trying to keep the setting consistent. XD
