Description
Gah! I've spent a fair bit of time on this guy and I love how it's coming out. I've been really careful about not smudging all of my work in his coat. I then go to tear it out of my drawing pad and the image tears! Grrr. What do you do when your artwork takes damage? Is it even worth finishing?
If you'd like to see how the tear scanned in, you can view it here . I uploaded it to my site.

I hate it when that happens Tears, wrinkles, folds...meh! Looks really nice here, though. Fantastic, subtle shading

Thanks. The tear did really suck, but I found a way to fix it. I'm scanning in the finished piece now.

This is absolutely stunning
I'd say that the damage on the tear is actually very small so shouldn't be too hard to repair. Well worth it certainly.

Thank you. I'd been wondering. I love how this guy came out so far. Definitely one of my better quickie drawings! Well, kind of quick.

Your 'quick' drawings look anything but...you should be proud

Daw, that really stinks. I had one of my canvases attacked by a board that out a hole in it. We patched it up with a spare bit of canvas and clear medium I think. You don't see the gash unless you know what to look for now.
I woukd probably see what you can do with it. Just be sure you use acid free archival stuff to patch it back together or you compromise the longevity of the piecem

I'll have to see what I around the house, but good tips. Thanks. I don't know what I'd do if I tore a canvas. Definitely have to watch those boards. They have a tendency to attack me, though; not my art.

Yeah, my tromp l'oiel (sp?) piece apparently had it in for Spider-man. I was also in the habit of carrying far more than I probably should at one time, but out of necessity I had to. (You know, taking the bus and having to walk a half mile from the stop to my classes.)
I'm thinking tape on the backside with perhaps some liquid paper on the front to cover the tear.

That would work good if it was finished, but the tape will leave lines when I try to finish the background. I want to do a cloudy sky behind him, which I think will mask the tear completely, provided I can keep it from moving while working on it. I'm trying to find some contact paper or sticker paper or something that's bigger than the 9X12 that this piece is (lots of stores have 8.5X11).
I'm glad I haven't had to deal with the bus in a lot of years. I can only imagine the headache of hauling it around that far! From the car, across the parking lot, to the right building, and up to the second floor was bad enough.

Ah yes, mounting it on some board (matt, illustration, whatever) would probably do well.
Indeed! Car to bus stop, bus stop to building, and then wherever my classes were (I think I only had one on the first floor). Thankfully I did have a locker at least!
