Thoughts about the Character:

I thought Aurelia would be as serious as a war veteran and even tho she had never participate to an actual war she was one of the kids who had to fight everyday for the nobles amusement, the arena was something few would understand, but in reality was a simple idea, they come up with a game, play it, get tired and then create another game, rinse-repeat. Of course there were many games to be played in a single day, and just before the younger duelists are sent basically to die they are shown and offered for adoption to the nobles in the crowd, if any of the children strike the noble's fancy, they are adopted and so relieved from their 'duties of entertainment'. Aurelia was really young and still hopeful that someone, be it her parents or anyone else would wake her from that horrible nightmare, but it didn't happen, her parent had to sell her because there wasn't enough food for her older siblings, and they were spared because they already had some job or such that helped the household, and for the nobles, they thought the young Aurelia lacked the femininity and grace of a little girl. And so, Aurelia had two options, to do what all the other kids around her do, that is to cry and wait for monsters to kill them, or try to fight on grasping the little chances she had to make it to the next day, of course, being as determinate to live as she was, Aurelia had no doubts when she chose the later.
Her time fighting and surviving through the arena was an extended one, she lost many friends around her, she saw them get eating and cry for help as loud as they could, and it wasn't like Aurelia didn't want to help, but she couldn't, coz she would also be dead if she went to help them. Every game the same thing, every game the same atrocities showing off the worst the humans have to offer, and the nobles seemed all too happy about it all, it killed Aurelia on the inside, she couldn't find anymore hope hang on to, nor anymore tears to show her sadness, she didn't expect anyone to save her anymore because it wouldn't matter in the end, because life itself was worse than any nightmare.
I believe she would be one of the few who could survive the arena until adulthood and so, she was appointed to be a member of the army's special force, it wasn't something she wanted to do, but like much in life, there wasn't any choice for her.
