Thoughts about the Character:

I thought Orla would be a very strong and righteous person, at first, she trained really hard so she could be part of the royal guard as she believed her skills would help keep the people safe but, as she was finally admitted, she hated that she was part of it, the only thing good that happened to her there was the friendship she developed with the princess, at first they rarely greeted each other, but as Orla found the princess as she was sneaking out the castle they started to get to know each other better. the princess told Orla about her worries and how she was scared that the staff of the castle were always plotting something, not that she thought they wanted to dethrone the king but it bothered her to always be alert to her surrounding and careful about what she say.
I believe Orla would eventually leave the royal guards but she would keep working for the princess secretly, she would report about problems and conflicts to the princess so with everything she could use her authority she would help personally the other things that she would not be able to work openly, she had Orla to assemble some trustworthy people to deal with it as if she was not involved.
Orla is very proud to be serving the princess and always gives 200% of herself in everything she does, she believes that even if there is some problem in the castle, the princess would always have the people and herself to turn to.
