UPDATE: Subspecies rarities have been updated, the new rarities are listed below:
Common - Mammal
Uncommon - Avian and Reptile (Reptile was previously rare)
Rare - Human and Dragon (both were previously super-rare)
Super-Rare - Hybrid
Finally, here's the species guide to my primary original species, spectrels! Feel free to let me know if you have any questions or comments <3
By the way, the spectrel featured here is Spectre, he's the mascot of the group I've been planning.
Here is the guide that specifically details spectra and spectra related traits!:
And here is some species lore:

This is a place to visit to learn more about spectrels and their world. In the future we'd like to have a website to contain this information along with more details and illustrations, but for now you can peruse all of the information below! More information may be added or edited over time. Feel free to comment with any questions, concerns, or needs for clarification!
Spectrels
Spectrels are an enigmatic, humanoid species with ghostly arms and amazing powers called spectra. Originating from a dimension known as the Hollow, spectrels live alongside many amazing and supernatural creatures.
Five basic subspecies of spectrels exist: mammals, avians, reptiles, dragons, and humans. Each of these subspecies can also interbreed, creating many different hybrid varieties. Within each subspecies there is a great deal of visual diversity, so spe

So basically
if i wanted an avian spectral with wings capable of flight
I would need an avian/dragon hybrid just for the wings ?
just asking to be sure

AshenSpectre In reply to W00Zl [2019-10-31 22:57:39 +0000 UTC]
If you want physical wings on their back, then yes, avian/dragon hybrid would be necessary! If you are okay with just wing-shaped spectra arms with a spectra power that allows them to fly, then just avian subspecies is sufficient.

Do human Spectrels need to have natural skin tones or can they have like... Blue skin, for an example? :3C

Question... can robotic species such as synths be spectras?
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
AshenSpectre In reply to ValsirtheProtgen [2019-03-28 17:23:07 +0000 UTC]
Are synths another closed species? If so, there aren't any official crossover/crossbreeds with spectrels+another species. Spectrels themselves are biological creatures, although it is possible for some spectra types to mimic mechanical/robotic parts. Spectrels can also have prosthetics or body modifications using robotics, if the owner wishes.

Despite being closed, there are many ways to get a MYO slot for your own spectrel without buying one! There's a guide here with more info:
GUIDE: How to Get Your Own SpectrelHOW TO GET A SPECTREL?
So you're interested in having a spectrel of your very own? Wonderful!
Everyone is welcome to be a part of our community regardless of whether they own a spectrel or not, but this is a guide for those interested in obtaining one! IF YOU HAVE MONEY/POINTS TO SPEND:
- Follow AshenSpectre or Spectrel-Hollow, and keep an eye out for Flat-Sales and Auctions! Check this folder for any spectrels that are currently for sale!
- Purchase a MYO (Make-Your-Own) slot or Custom design! With a MYO slot you are able to design your own spectrel, and through a custom AshenSpectre will design one for you! Both MYO slots and customs are available occasionally, make sure to watch AshenSpectre for updates.

How about Aquatic species (koi fish, sharks, jellyfish, etc) and Insect species (praying mantis, beetles, ladybugs, etc)? Would they count as Hybrid? I know there was a previous question on this but it was last year so that answer may have changed owo

AshenSpectre In reply to The-Onesie-Dragon [2018-07-25 06:13:47 +0000 UTC]
Unfortunately the answer is still the same, aquatic and insect creature features may still only be incorporated through spectra types!

If mammals are common, would a bat still fall within "common", being a mammal, or would it fall within "uncommon", being winged?
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
AshenSpectre In reply to notyoufromthefuture [2018-07-10 05:01:36 +0000 UTC]
A bat spectrel would still be common! They wouldn't have wings on their back though. As a child, a bat spectrel would have winglike arms not capable of flight, and the spectra arms of many bat spectrels resemble these winglike arms such as this one:

There are plenty of ways to obtain a spectrel in the group!
There's monthly Draw-to-adopt contests and raffles, MYO slots given away to prompt participants, and many ways to earn group currency that can be used to purchase slots as well.

I have a question...are there average heights set out for the species?
I'd like to know so that I can have them right when they're drawn in comparison to my other characters that have set heights and aren't wibbly wobbly in that department XD
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
AshenSpectre In reply to MurderInkLastResort [2017-12-15 17:19:46 +0000 UTC]
The general average heights are 3 to 8 feet tall, you can kind of think of the real life animal a spectrel is based on to estimate it's height. For example, a spectrel based on a sparrow would probably be on the smaller side, but a tiger based one would be very large. Dragons can have a lot of variation, but essentially it's up to you!

i know they're humanoid species primarily, but say in the instance that their spectra was wings, like a wyvern based, would such an instance be alright ? like being able to be on all fours and such, just asking for the myo contest, and i had a rlly neat idea and it involved that ;;w;;

Are aquatic subspecies and scorpion-like subspecies allowed? Can you combine more than two subspecies in a hybrid?
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
AshenSpectre In reply to Wintercat96 [2017-08-02 20:46:44 +0000 UTC]
Only semi-aquatic mammals are allowed (so otters are acceptable but dolphins are not), or amphibians which, for the purposes of the spectrels, are included in the reptile subspecies. If you'd like to give your spectrel aquatic or insect like features, you can do so with Spectra types! (Such as making a tail Spectra resemble a fish or scorpion tail)
And yes, more than two subspecies can be combined in a hybrid!
